USB Audio Interface CIC

Hi all

I have a 2009 BMW 320d M Sport Bus Ed. I tried to plug my phone in via usb to get access to my music. I plugged it into the centre console and managed to connect. I can access the current playback and search options but not the artist, album etc options. How can I access this and can I import the music using my version of iDrive? Would I better in putting my music in one folder and using a USB drive or external hard drive? I also tried to use the USB in the glovebox but it wouldnt connect albeit the phone was charging fine.

Thanks so if I use an external hard drive or USB stick then that should be fine? Also what's the hard drive size built into the BMW if you are importing music on to it?
