Wanted Low Mile Bare N54 Engine

Hi all

As the title states. I am after a low mile bare engine to replace mine from my N54 335i.

My head gasket has failed and rather than fix it id rather have a low mile engine as mine has now covered just over 100k.

So if anyone has or knows of one for sale please let me know.

Thanks

Good luck finding a genuine low mileage used engine.

My 335i has just clicked onto 196,000 miles still on original turbos and headgasket and copes with loads of abuse, 100k miles is nothing for an N54 and changing a head gasket is a whole lot easier than an engine change

I'm single turbo on 120k n54 pounding away at 20psi on e30mix love it everyday. Just do the gasket. Much much easier.

Iv thought about this a lot. I know these are good engines but I think I may have covered around 3k miles with it like this. For peice of mind the head would have to be sent off to be inspected and work done if any damage found. Also no idea how diluted with coolant my oil is so never know what other damaged that may have caused internally.

The head might need a skim possibly but as others have said, do the gasket.

If you buy a used engine, how will you know the history? At least you know your own engine.

As for coolant in the oil, has the oil level risen? You could do an oil sample if you are concerned. In any case you would flush the oil out and flush the coolant too when rebuilding the motor.

bet it would be cheaper to buy forged internals than buy a whole other engine
