See post 18. Everything was done legit at my indy, new fluid complete flush.

I've read that e90 brake lines already have steel linings under the rubber so SS lines wouldn't really do anything.
Not true. BMW factory brake lines are not steel lined.

Adding SS lines will give you a firmer feel.

Also, adding brass bushings will make your brakes last longer and give additional feel.

I know. I have both installed on my car, and I didn't do them simultaneously.

I added brass bushings in the winter and SS brake lines in the spring, while doing the subframe bushings in the rear. Since the subframe was removed from the car, the Factory lines were very easy to get to as a result.

Stop tech or Goodridge are the top two SS lines.

ECS brass bushings are by far the best brass bushings for your money.

- As Feuer suggested, vacuum leak. But this usually causes a high and hard pedal, with weak brakes. But if brake strength is good and the pedal just sinks then there might be a vacuum leak so the vac pump gradually sucks the mechanism further down. IMO this is not as common as the next possibility.

Because our cars have a vac pump, vacuum is not sourced from the manifold so the fluctuating idle is not a suitable check for this car.

- Air in the lines and/or DSC (ABS) module. Pressure bleed, then bleed with scantool to actuate pump and tickle the valves whilst pressure bleeder is still connected and pressurised.

- Worn master cylinder. Fluid bypasses the piston seals in the master
So I just replaced my master cylinder with OEM and while I was at it had my mechanic install SS brake lines. My issue did not get any better, pedal is still super squishy and pedal will sink. Is my next option is a vacuum leak check?

That should have been your first option to begin with.

What screwed me up is that my car passed all the following vacuum tests:

Also my mechanic is telling me that a vacuum leak will cause a hard pedal, not a soft spongy one.

I'm worried about the extra maintenance installing them on my DD that see's salty Canadian winters. For those who did take the plunge what are your opinions on them? Do the seals from the ECS kit reduce the maintenance with them?
Squishy pedal won't be solved by the brass bushings.
They will provide more even or better pad wear.
I had them on my E30 M3 and my E36 M3.

Use some high temp ceramic grease.

Resurrecting an old thread here; did you get any further with this? To do with the sinking and squishy pedal feel?
