E90 LCI to pre-LCI rear hub swap?

Hi all -

I have a 2011 335D with factory M-sport package and I'm trying to figure out if it's possible or feasible to replace a couple of the rear end components to regain the 8mm of rear track width as high offset wheels are becoming harder to find.

I've been searching through the forums but have only found this one post related to my query.

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1607686

From what I can tell from that post and my own research on RealOEM, it looks like I could just replace the rear drive flange hub and wheel carrier and be able to run pre-lci rear wheel fitments.

Has anyone here done this swap and willing to share your thoughts and experience in doing it?

Thanks!

OK, I really expected more response than this. Maybe I should have posted in the bagged forums because I guess they are they are the only ones that care about the tucked look over the flush or hella-flush look or the ability to be completely slammed. But IMHO anyone with an LCI E90 should really be thinking about this because of the current availability of wheels.

I haven't done the swap but I kept the knuckles and axles from my pre-lci sedan donor when I built my wagon. Really because I didn't want to take the axle out as it is a pain and I assumed I'd break an axle at some point but the 328 axles have held all the 335 power fine. From my research at the time I thought it was only the knuckle that mattered even.

Thanks TyroneShoelaces! I haven't been able to find any dimensions yet to verify but the drive flange hub does have different part numbers too but I'm not sure what the difference is. I'm gonna try to get to the local junk yard soon to pull a pair of pre-lci hubs.

I wouldn't expect that you'll have any issues with the drive shafts. They are the same according to RealOEM and mine are holding up well to the abuse of 500 ft. lb. torque in my diesel.

This thread has a lot of info.

I only skimmed it but it does appear to be the hubs that are different.

I had actually forgotten about this when I bought the M3 rear suspension but fortunately I did get a pre-LCI M3 rear so I kept the larger pre-lci clearances. If running wider tires then the narrow rear is better to fit them car and also have the wider look as a best of both worlds.

I've also been looking towards doing a F8X M3/4 Bull Brake kit swap on my E90; but since it's an LCI, there's no conversion bracket made to fit the F8X M3/4 370mm Rear Rotors onto my car, if there is, please share it to me. SLG states that in their E-Series 370mm Brake Swap their bracket isn't compatible with LCI E90's. Is there any possible way to make a full brake swap possible?

I came into this thread wondering if changing from my stock LCI wheel hub (and all other components necessary) to pre-LCI wheel hubs enables me to use SLG's custom rear bracket to fit the 370mm rear rotors.

(Edit)

The only thing I need to swap out to fix my problem is to swap out the stock Spindle Assemblies to the E9X M3 ones.
e9x Rear Spindle Assembly - Left - 33302283541
e9x Rear Spindle Assembly - Right - 33302283542

Note - Tie Rods do not need to be changed.
