Has anyone bought a set of these goodyear wipers? Are these the same one found at Costco? It says these fit 06 330 BMW. Best deal I found so far...

^You must be opposed to using PPG Aquapel. lol
Literally willing to try anything but it to save some coin.

So what are the community's favorite windshield wipers?
Considering I am in Oregon, I really need some good high durability/use windshield wipers, what should I look into getting? Stock? Aftermarket brands? Any advice from those that have tried a few types? Are there any to steer clear of because of noise at low speed or just dont work that well on this car? I really think I need to have the composite body over the metal tiered blades for limiting ice build up fouling the blades. Are the OEM ones really $90, just for wipers ? Where are good places to pick them up? Last edited by rotarypower101; 05-15-2014 at 01:47 AM.. |

I've tried a lot of different wipers, and I settled on OE. They work really well. People have spoken very highly of PIAA, but I haven't gotten those because they're impossible to find at stores for some reason.

Thanks for taking the time to post
Ya my instinct is to just get the OEM ones, but I am not opposed to looking into getting something that works better with this car if as a group people here are of consensus. Would love for them to have a OE look to them as well if possible. Are there any great places to make a purchase on the OEM ones? Who is the manufacturer on the OEM blades? |

E46 OEM: E46 OE: I could be completely wrong, but if BMW tends to use the same manufacturers as in the past, then this is my best guess: Bosch Evolution flat-style beam wiper blades: BMW Evo Flat: Could be pure coincidence, but I do know that the Evo Flats perform well With the Icons, I had this annoying "slapping" noise each time the wiper flipped. My whole family converted to Icons because they do work great. It happens on some cars but not others: Subaru - Yes Infiniti - No BMW - Yes No idea what's up with that. I believe you are correct, I was at the auto store the other day, and they look virtually identical from memory.
I am going to bring them in next time and make a direct comparison. It certainly is nice to be able to ask a specific question and people share the knowledge that they have learned. Thanks! |

A nice trick is to clay bar the windshield as you would a car's body panel. It gets rid of microscopic particles and aids in a more thorough wipe from the blades. I stumbled upon this idea a long time ago detailing my car. I was amazed at the outcome and I'm sure you guys would be too.

First, CLAY BAR the windshield, as others are suggesting. It will look BRAND NEW, and even gets rid of the wiper "Arc and end" lines, unless they are really bad. I do this once a year or so. Second, Rain-X is awesome. If you use a different brand of Rain repellant, you may be disappointed. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! Some saying it causes their wipers to skip, have applied it wrong. Be careful, because "Rain-X" also makes an anti-fog product. You do NOT want to use the Anti-fog on the outside of your windows! LOL! And likewise, don't ever use Rain-X Repellant on the inside - in winter it will fog up like a SMB. Regularly wash your windshield with Invisible Glass. It cleans gunk, tar, bugs, etc. Then use the Rain-X. Properly applied, Rain-X is all you need. I often drive in rain without my wipers - I simply don't need them unless it's an absolute deluge. Third, the wipers - Triple-X are good, Rain-X are better, OEM, I don't know. I've never replaced my current car's wipers in 35k miles. Probably because I never use them, except when cleaning with the solution. The wipers themselves don't matter so much if you do steps one and two. They are just for looks IMO.

This.
I used to Rainx my windshield once a month. The windshield would bead and repel water so good, I didn't even have to use my wipers. Trick I learned some time ago. If the windshield is very stained or has never been treated, use a news paper to apply the rainx. The paper will polish the glass and remove all those water spots. Used that trick on my wife's 10 yr old car, windshield like new now. |

The meguiars gold class wash with carnauba helps with the beading if you don't want to apply rain-x. Also usuing rain-x washer fluid is good. I just hated manually applying rain x every month or so... I found it to be hazy, so it took a bit of elbow grease to buff it out. Newspaper is probably the best to clean glass with.

I found this thread really helpful Ended up going with Valeo for my 2007 335i from Amazon, $49 shipped. They fit perfect cover and all and have the same height as the originals.

I got the Valeo's as well, and I'm hating the noise they make everytime they switch directions. Plus that annoying line they leave just like my previous wipers which I think were oem. Wiper performance is ok, water comes pouring down from the roof everytime they swipe back down, and sometimes they leave a very skinny layer of water that evaporates within a second covering half the wipe area of each blade.
