Wheel Repair

Does anyone know what happened to Ye Olde Wheel Shop in Hanover Maryland? Their website is still operational, but the phone number is not in service.

Any recommendations for another wheel repair shop near Baltimore?

Apparently the business was sold and the new owner has scaled back operations to repairs and straighten only, no refinishing.

Thanks. I need a repair. Do they have a new contact number that you know of?

You're kidding me!? I was gonna head up there to get a road force balance done next week...they were the only shop in like an hour's radius that actually spent the time to do it right

Ye Olde Wheel shop rarely picks up their phone. Or even call to tell you when your wheels are ready. But they do great work. I recently started using Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists in Essex. Had a curbed wheel that was powder coated got back in a couple days looking perfect.

I drove out there today - Ye Olde Wheel Shop is gone. It's just a general auto repair shop now.

I'm going to Rim Doctor in Glen Burnie tomorrow.

Oh man!!!! That was the only place I took my wheels to get tires mounted and road-force balance. Now to find a new place.

Ah, thanks for the prod.

This all started with a slow tire leak. Took it up the road to Firestone. They claimed it was a cracked rim. That started me on the search for Ye Olde Wheel Shop.

I ended up taking the wheel to the Rim Doctor in Glen Burnie, and they took a day to repair it. Not the best-looking repair, but it's on the inside lip so no biggie.

Next day, tire is going flat again.

Did a spray test to find the leak, which was almost squarely in the center of the tire. Marked it and took it back to Firestone. Wait for it... they called and said tire could not be repaired and had to be replaced. Turns out they found a puncture that was closer to the sidewall - too close according to them.

Bullshit.

Bought one of those tire plug repair kits and repaired it myself. I know there are tons of videos on youtube telling people not to do this - it's not safe.

Been on there for months now with some spirited driving. No issues.

I too used these guys, the re-finishing was well done, however the paint on the wheels was chipped within a couple of weeks. Not sure if the paint didn't adhere properly or its too hard?

Been meaning to contact them to see if there is something they can do about it.
