Wastegate rattle fix costs

Hey guys.
So pretty sure my N54 has developed the standard wastage rattle. Its done 164,000kms so i guess no surprise.
Just wondering if anyone can shed light on how much I'm looking at to have it fixed? Ive done some searches but couldn't find anyone saying costs.
If anyone could fill me in that would be great

It is possible to remove the turbos and rebuild the wastegates/wastegate actuators.

There are kits readily available online and most competent garages should be able to remove them and carry out the work.

My local garage offers this service for £600 (800asd).

For a couple of hundred more you can buy new turbos with new waste gates.

not a fix, wont help with boost issues. But MHD rattle-fix turned all the way to least lag/ most rattle has completely resolve all of my rattle (I know all it does is change the position). But I have been living with rattle-free life for a few months now and it rocks.

Just flashed it before mate, but found it only removed it when i had it all the way to the left on least rattle. Does this make it more laggy?

Only permanent fix is new turbos. Can get then fir $1600 new plus install of $1500
Otherwise get MHD or JB4 and adjust wastegste settings in minimal or leave them and enjoy the rattle after all its part of having a N54. Lots of cars have quirks that they are known for. Be proud of ur rattle lel

Not sure how mechanically inclined you are but I plan to remove my turbos, remove the old wastegate components, install the new parts and then just have a shop weld the arm for me. Wastegate replacement kit was 75+ shipping from VVT, having a shop weld the arms should only run about $50 and I got a turbo install kit from ECS for $240. So total cost should be under $400 US. I plan to go single turbo in a couple years though so I'm just trying to extend the life of the stockers until then. The turbos pull hard under WOT, but are embarrassing driving around town with how bad they rattle.

I found it quite laggy. I still had some rattle with all the way to left, and now no rattle and very little lag with the slider all the way to the right.
Give it a try, only a 2min fix.

Stupid suggestion because new turbo's will also have the rattle. Unless you go for aftermarket new turbo's with modified/improved wastegate.

Besides sounding like shit, is there any problem with just running them like that?

They feel laggy and unresponsive.. You dont really notice it as they get worse over time, but when you drive a N54 with a fresh set the difference is huge!

Before you go changing turbos etc. check and test simple things like vacuum lines, canisters, boost solenoids. Any of these might contribute to at least some rattle.

Coming from old Jap (performance) cars, guess I'm used to expecting stock turbos to last some what the life of the vehicle, unless you are running stupid excess boost levels and blowing them up. 😀
