That vent does not do much anyway. The vents for windshield defrosting are the slot vents forward of the center grille vents.

Just added the center tweeter and I am impressed. It really did move the center stage up and in front. Got the tweeter off eBay for $28. Very good bang to buck ratio!!

Hey if i accidentally pushed in the dome of the tweeter, it popped back out but its got a little round circle mark on it. Is that bad?

Lol, probably did get from the same guy. I think it was your link earlier in this thread I used.

I didn't get any pics. I just used hot glue to secure it to the frame in the vent hole. I didn't even take it out of the little grill/cage it came in and it worked great.

As for accidentally denting it, I am not sure. I guess just hook it up and see how it runs.

I bought this tweeter from eBay and hooked it up. But I can't tell if it's working or not and I don't feel it vibrating. Any advice? Is there a way to tell if it's definitely defective?

I'm sure there are many other good choices for under $200 out there (if you're on a budget). You may also want to consider a Kenwood Xr-4S which is a 4 channel amp but you can get it for under 200 refurbished. You could use 2 channels and it would be plenty of power and you would be set if you wanted to upgrade your system in the future. I used to run that amp and it it is great!

Kaigoss would the Xr-4s be a good option if I'm not sure I want a trunk sub? I'm thinking of doing all three of these upgrades, but may want to add a trunk sub later. Would the spare 2 channels be a good option to power the trunk sub? I'm not looking for major boom. Just good sq with a bit more punch. I have a feeling I will be happy after these 3 upgrades as I'm fairly happy now, but I like to think ahead.

So here is what i am thinking:

1. Center Tweeter
2. BSW Speakers
3. SWS-8 w/amp
4. MS-8

Or

1. Tweeter
2. BSW Speakers
3. 10" trunk sub (ws6 ?)
4. underseat mids?
5. MS-8
6. Amp for mids and sub ?
I would strongly encourage you to do the tweeter and MS-8 upgrade first, before you spend any more money. After I installed my MS-8 and let it power the stock speakers, I did not feel the need to do anything else above 150Hz (and I have some orphaned $800 Focal speakers now...). Below 150Hz, I would recommend you leave in the stock woofers and use them as mid-bass, and put a 10" in the trunk. All you will need is a mono amp for the trunk sub, and let the MS-8 power the rest. You can probably do this for under $1000 if you install yourself and you will have a Kickass (with a capital "K") SQ system. If you want trunk space, get a corner-loaded sub enclosure but it will cost you a bit more.

For the hardware (MS-8, amp, sub & box) I would recommend you contact VP Electricity.

You may also want to get a harness from Technic, which will allow you to do all the electrical connections without cutting/splicing any wires at all.
You ditched a set of Focul mids in favour of the OEM drivers? I'm struggling with that. The Foculs are a class above!!

Yes, mainly because the Focals are "out of place" in a "surround sound" system with 7 channels playing the same frequencies, and with only 18W each.

Kaigoss with the MS-8 being discontinued and hard to find, do you have new recommendations for the best bang for your buck upgrades to the L7 system?
