Smile New iPOD Classic Compatibility

The new iPOD classic works in my M6 (iPOD adaptor - pre-cursor to 6FL). I just need to verify that it works with my neighbor's M5 with 6FL.

The new iPOD 80 Gig is the same width and height as the 5G iPOD video 30 gig but it is thinner and lasts longer.... Nice...

TBone -- did you see my other thread on iPod classic charging issues? I will be very interested to hear if you have the charging/turn off issue with your neighbor's M5 w/6FL.

I'm having issues with the iPod classic (80GB) and the 6FL:
- occasionally will not 'disconnect' when the car is turned off or iPod disconnected. This would result in the iPod's screen staying lit and running the battery flat.
(seems to be fixed with v1.0.1 update)
- when browsing music the structure is all messed up, for example:

Using iDrive and my previous iPod (5th Gen), browsing to an album (ABCD) starting with 'Genres' would look like this:

Genres:Electronica:All Artists:All Albums:ABCD

All the tracks for album ABCD would then be listed.

However, On the iPod classic synchronised to the same library the structure looks like this:

Genres:Electronica:All Albums:XXX

Not only is the menu level for artists non-existent here but the albums listed are not in alphabetical order and albums appear more than once. It is almost like the ridiculous way that the 'Coverflow' view sorts by Artist instead of Album. I think that's what this is doing...

Has anyone else noticed this problem or is it just me?

Thanks,

Paul Martin

Paul,

I have not noticed the sort problem you describe. However, due to my very large music collection, I gave up on standard sorts. I use the "A,B,C... genres kludge" to sort my music. So I have never browsed the way you describe. I'll try to remember to take a look next time I'm in the car.

Thanks gloster.

I can easily avoid this by jumping straight to 'Albums' as the top level but scrolling down to an album starting with 'T' is tedious to say the least. Initially sorting by genre cut the list down dramatically but now the albums are listed more than once, not in alphabetical order - useless!

Let me know what you find.

Cheers,

Paul
