Grip On The Street For High HP N54
I will have my single turbo done pretty soon, so I need a tire that can stick with the increased power. Currently, I am on 19s and I just don't want to change away from the look of my 19s. Since no DR is available in 19s (my size), I am considering the Nitto NT05, Hoosier A6/R6, or Toyo R888. Does anyone have any experience on how these perform on the street? I am simply looking for a sticky tire versus by current GY that I can spin like crazy.
One other thing, I have 275x30 on there right now and the tires I mention above are only available in 265x30. It seems the difference in contact patch will be negligible, but I wanted to ask. |

I've heard Bridgestone re-11 are pretty sticky but have never used them myself. Tirerack has some rather informative reviews and surveys that can guide you in the right direction.

Had 265 NT05 on my 328 and I could spin for about 1.0 seconds from a standstill in D (2nd gear) on slightly dusty cement. Very high grip, but nothing short of drag radials will stop spin.

These are some of the stickiest everyday tires available in 19's.

SVTperformance is where I first read about the R888's. I don't have personal experience with them so I can't say much about them and I don't want to be that guy who just reads another forum and then writes shit to act smart haha, but as you already probably know from the SVT side they have GREAT grip, good in the rain, but will wear VERY fast. I guess if you don't mind the wear, there's no reason not to go for them. There's always that random person who comes in and says they got 15k miles on their r888's as well haha. If I could get 15k outta them I'd be all over them.

Any updates? I'm in the same boat. Tires spin spin spin.
Even with LSD, I can light the tires up in 3rd and in 4th if its cool (>460wtq). I have 17" DRs and the rolling traction is GREAT, but I want to keep my 19's. I heard he PSS were good, but I don't know if they will work with high HP. Basically, I don't want to spin my tires from a roll-on (no gear change) in 3rd. |

I've used AD08, RE-01 (years back), RE-01R and 2 set of R888 before they were all for daily use only. Personally I would say the best are AD08 for DAILY USE PURPOSE, these are really good balance tries for dry + wet and road noise are minmum too!! R888 were the best just for dry, hot, summer roads BUT they aren't that 'good' for wet and quite noisey actually! Believe me they are impossible to run over 10k miles for sure [unless you drive like a grany]!
Hope that helps, bro! |
