Lexus GS350 vs. LCI 328i (My friend swears he's gonna smoke me)

My friend has a 2013 CPO GS350 AWD. On paper, its a 3.5L Toyota V6 with 306HP, around 277 lb-ft torque. Lexus manufacturer claims 0-60 about 5.9 sec for AWD models.

I have a 2011 328i RWD automatic. His lying ass keeps telling me he does 0-60 in 5.5 to 5.7. He said he uses iPhone apps to test his 0-60.

Point is, I'm tired of his bullsh*t. I'm ready to race this boy. I just want to know what you guys on the forums think? Who's gonna smoke who?

Both cars are 100% stock, no intakes, or any kind of mods whatsoever.

I honestly think my LCI RWD 328i is gonna smoke his ass for a few reasons...

1) Lexus (and most auto manufacturers) overate HP & Torque outputs. BMW numbers are a little more realistic.

2) Lexus (and most auto manufacturers) tend to inflate 0-60 times. You will almost never get the advertised 0-60 times unless conditions are 100% ideal. NOT THE CASE WITH BMW....especially the turbo charged models (F30, F10).

3) RWD vs. his heavy ass AWD.

Vote in the poll to let me know what you guys think.

You would probably beat him on the twisty roads.

To be honest a stock 335i would probably have a battle on its hands against a GS350.

GS350 in a straight line, hands down he will smoke you. I had a Camry with the same (detuned) 3.5. It was fast, faster than my current 330i.

Yea you'll lose. 3 stage intake + headers + tune would be a closer one

As per twisty roads , meh its a drivers race , a honda civic SE or corolla with the right driver can take you . I ve seen 328s take on 335s on the track , miatas take on m3s and so on.

Only way you ll win is if he really messes up the launch or if he does not go full out , and that is assuming you have a perfect launch and you push the car to the limit

if you had a f30 328i maybe, but yeah you would lose in the straight. I think only the turbo bmw's are underrated. Most of the NA engine cars are pretty close to there rated numbers.

The newer lexus chassis's are actually pretty good since akino toyota took over toyota. My gf's 2014 is250 seem better on the twisties compared to the 2014 328i, but the 328i was way faster in the straight compared to the is250.

The GS350 will win in a straight line. AWD and more HP will give him the advantage on a launch as well. I wouldn't race if I were you.

The 328i is the better looking car and more fun to drive, but it is not a rocket ship.

It will be pretty close at first. Back when I had my 328i, I raced my friend who has an Fsport GS350. My 328i took him off the line but once we got about 80 MPH, he started winning.

His wasn't AWD so there is going to be a difference.

He's got the HP and torque to make this embarrassing, plus the GS350 is no slouch. The F30 328 would be a good race, a 228 would be a win.

GS350.

Take it to a drag strip. Stay off the streets, but you'll probably do the latter. Be safe either way.

I wonder if you know.. how they live in Tokyo fastnfuriooouuusss~~

I own a GS 350 and an E85 Z4. 3.0i.

Stock the Lexus IS hands down quicker in a straight line.

With tuning work they are even but my Z is several hundred pounds lighter than your 328.

For several reasons you are better to keep the debate a BS session and never take it to the street.

Honestly OP you?re underestimating the fact that he literally has 75 more than you. Do you know how much faster 75 hp makes a huge difference. And he AWD so he has the launch on you. Also he has much more torque than you do.

Would a 535 beat you? Answer: yes.

Twisties lexus has no chance. Straight cause you're almost half a ton lighter it will be a close run assuming you shift into sport and hit 7k in each gear. Above 80 you have less wind resistance also in your favor.
