Why do you debadge your car?

Debadged for sure. I'll debadge any car I have for the cleaner, more symetrical look. (I my wife gets a minivan, maybe not.... kidding, a minivan won't happen)
For those that hate on BMW, they don't discriminate between a 328 vs. 335. We're pricks all the same.

It kills me how many people use "M" and "respect" in the same sentence, like it's the pope's ride or something. The amount of people commenting on how they think people debadge to make their car look like a higher model, or even worse say they would never debadge, because they want everyone to know they paid up for the big model kill me. If you're that concerned about what everyone thinks about you, just staple a copy of your paystub to the front of your shirt. My biggest problem with debadging is that I want to do it, but I'm scared that if I don't like the look or something that I'll never get it back on correctly and straight again. |

speaking of debadging......i just did mine today......after over 4 years of ownership.......
used a 20lb. fishing line to loosen the 330i......then peeled them out with my Harrah's player's club card. after i cleaned the area......you can still vividly see the outline "330i"...... hopefully, they'll go away..........after a few washes or wipings...... Honestly.....I must say.....the rear of the car looks so much nicer and cleaner.

clean it with rubbing alcohol or goo gone, then wet sand with 2000 grit sand paper and repolish. Should get rid of the outline.

People can do what they want. To me, it seems that while debadging a car may be cleaner, something always looks off. I've got no problems with the asymmetry in the back. Plus, I don't feel like cleaner always equals better.

Well It started with my last car but I've carried the debadging process onto my BMW. Now it's all personal preference, but since I have a 330i, I don't think i'm debadging so i look like a 323/328?? It was purely cosmetic for me

started removing emblems when i had my wrx) took off the subaru letters on the trunk, took off my 325ci logo on my e46 and have now removed the 335i logo on my current car... I would also gladly remove the M logo if i bought the e46/e90 m3 instead, i just don't think it is the badge that makes the car. the rondel in the center is a perfect symbol, who needs the extra stuff. who cars what model people think you have, only opinion that matters is the drivers. i think debaged cars just look great!

Debadging is one of the first things i"m doing when i get my 335i. Easier to wash/wax and it cleans up the trunk.
The dual exhaust is more than enough for people to know its a 335 but I can't stand people who get all hell bent on what badge is on their car. Same type of people that would rebadge their car as a higher model. If you like the badge then leave it which is cool by me but if your reason to leave it is only to flaunt that you have a higher model than the next guy then its pretty lame. |

I did however switch over to the shadow emblems cuz I like the stealth look, but still don't care if people know/care what model I drive. What counts is that people say "Thats the sickest looking ______(insert model number here)____ I've ever seen!" When they see you. |

I think i would do the same for a 335i too, but never a M3 LOL.. Its hard to believe that people would debadge that. |

I think it looks a lot cleaner in most cases, like this:
When I had my 330 I debadged it, but a year later everyone thought it was a 328 because I didn't have duals
