Decision made...coming from the UK where it rains so much and living in NorCal where the sun shines so much...but not too hot...it's got to be a VERT 2010 "i" or 2011 "is"

Yes...they do:
  • 2010 "i" OTD = $63.1K
  • 2011 "is" OTD = $68.1K + $2.5K in lost "holiday Joy"

You're right...it's a LOT of money for the folding metal roof...but having had an 08 335i VERT for 14 months until BMW repurchased it (3 HPFP failures) I know it's worth it!!!

I think the power folding mirrors have only been part of the ZPP package on the M3, not the 335/328? The 2009 and 2010 ordering guides don't show it listed for the 335, but I think those cars still had it? That would be a bummer if they killed that feature especially since they just made the mirrors larger!

Not sure what package they are in...but this is from the 2010 Owners Manual

"At driving speeds up to approx 12 mph/20 km/h, you can fold the mirrors in and out by pressing button 3...Mirrors that were folded in are folded out automatically at a speed of approx 25 mph/40 km/h"

I was saying that the 328/335 do not show the power folding mirrors in the ordering guides even though they seem to be included as standard. The M3, however, lists the power folding mirrors as part of the premium package.

It seems like that would be a feature ripe for cost cutting, though. I notice all the photos of the 2011 335is do not show the switch for the folding mirrors, but I think that may be because they are euro spec cars?

OK folks...Sunday was Decision Day and now it's made...after much deliberation, fully specing my car on the German website to see it Sooo much more detail and on the US website, watching the various you tube videos and reviewing the posts on e90post...have decided to go with my original order...happy with the decision and so looking forward to making the trip to Munich in March...

Thanks everyone for your support, thoughts and opinions!

Confused about this pdf file w/ regard to runflats

I see the following:

w/ performance tires
w/ mixed performance tires
w/ performance run flat tires

The 335i sedan and the 335d show w/ performance and mixed performance tires only

I only see the 328 model showing w/ performance run flat tires

Am I looking at this correct?? Only runflats come w/ 328 model? Or is this pdf a typo?

Looks like m-sport package went down about $200 but PDC is removed, thus the M-sport package got more expensive. If you buy the new convenience package, though, you recoup the difference and also get front PDC.

Clever way to persuade people to buy the convenience package and sell them more options.

Looks like all other pricing stayed the same aside from the Jan price and destination hike.
BMW = very good at disguised price increases. The lack of USB jack, 12 volt adapter / storage compartment by stereo (vs. rubber "hole"), sedan mirrors on coupe and loss of webbed pockets on the back seat make it plain that BMW is sharing more components and deleting features to shave pennies in mfg cost while raising prices. Add in the "disguised" loss of PDC in MSport and it's just crazy.

$55K for a 3-series????

Too expensive for what you get IMO. Doubt I will be back for another 3er. Too many other competent vehicles with more features, lower pricing and better service to customers.

The Ultimate Driving Machine also generates the Ultimate Car Payment. Good if you work in Munich, I guess.

I agree that the decontenting to count pennies in unnecessary, but I still don't think there are any reasonable competitors to the 3-series that offer a better value. Audi S4? Same price or more expensive. Audi A-series - engines nowhere near as good as 3er. Infiniti GXX? Maybe - they are definitely cheaper but have shot up in price to the high 40's too. This car has improved but it's still not on the level of the 3er. Lexus? The IS is good, and the next gen will be much better I'm sure, but the current model is just too soft. Mercedes? Nope, nothing good there in this class. So that leaves me with BMW. If you do the math, the price increases have not been so bad.

I just figured it out, and from 9/1/07 to now - almost 2.5 years, a loaded 3-series has increased in price by 3.5%. That's only 1.5% per year - lower than the average inflation rate, so I'm ok with it. I think the issue is that the 3-series is going more upline with more features and options like m-sport, the IS model, etc/ This makes room for the 1-series lines, new Z2, etc. The 3 is no longer the cheapest model like it historically has been. We are all going to have to adjust our attitudes towards the car in the future because of this.

...the hidden cost is depreciation as well... my 2007 E92 (~$49K w/options) with 89K miles in mint shape is worth less than $19K now... ~Frost

I think you math may be bad. It is not 3.5%. I bought my loaded 335i E90 sedan in June 2007. The same car today is about $5500 more. That's closer to 9% by my check. The price increases have been huge. Initially because of a week dollar, but once the dollar strengthened, the price didn't go down. Things keep going up and we suckers keep on buying.

I guess that is why you can negotiate so easily anymore and why they offer at times 0.9% for 60 months on M3s, 3's, etc.

I was comparing 2008 MY to 2011 MY. Here is a comparison from 2007 MY pricing to 2011 MY pricing. Prices are MSRP and are for a 335 coupe (couldn't find the 07 sedan pricing).

2007 335 coupe
40600: Base
1275: Step
100: Paddle shifters
350: Sunshade
350: PDC
2100: Navigation
595: Sat Radio
475: Metallic Paint
750: Cold Weather
2450: Premium
1000: Sport Package
Free: Logic 7
500: Comfort Access
695: Destination
Total: 51240

2011 335 coupe
42650: Base
1375: Step
90: Paddle Shifters
2100: Nav
350: Sat Radio
875: Harmon Kardon
900: Cold Weather
550: Metallic Paint
1500: Convenience Package (pdc, alarm, comfort access, sunshade)
1550: Sport Package
2650: Premium Package
875: Destination
Total: $55465

Price difference 2007-2011 (4 model years) = $4225 = 8.2% = approx 2% increase per model year. In addition, the 2011 comes with a heated steering wheel, alarm and front pdc. If you back those items out at a price of $800 to have a true apples to apples comparison, then there is a price difference from 2007-2011 of $3425 = 6.7% = approx 1.67% price increase per model year (well under the average inflation rate at a time when the dollar has been getting weaker against the euro).

I don't see why people seem to think these cars have gone up so dramatically in price. They simply have not.

I couldn't find invoice pricing on this forum for the 2011 3-series. Sorry if it already exists on here and I'm too new to know where to look, my apologies.

But, I did notice that Edmunds has MSRP/Invoice pricing finally posted for the 2011.

Any idea how to figure out the invoice pricing for ED? Apparently people can't post those numbers any more.

Interesting--nothing like too well-informed shoppers to scare the heck out of BMW NA . . . This is such a stupid company here at BMW NA. I so wish BMW AG would fire 'em all and deal more directly with their US and Canadian customers.

Any recs for a PM to a board sponsor for a EuroDel (North Texas/South OK area)? We're looking for someone who won't play games and WILL SHOW US THE "confidential" ED INVOICE PRICE SHEET.

We're looking at paying a CA about $2,000/hour for a very quick ED sale: 15 minutes for data entry on our order, including the time to photocopy our passports. That's worth about $500 over ED Invoice, no? That'll work out to $2,000/hour. Not bad work if you can get it . . . . (And we're VERY low-touch customers, of course, having done this twice before.)

Thanks!
