330d owners discussion

Hi All,

This diesel section seems dominated by the 335d owners, So lets get our act together and get this going.

Intrested in knowing what mods (performance) everyone has got on their n57's.

Because it is LCI, you cannot flash the ECU through the OBD as the ECU is protected unlike the pre-LCI. So more-bhp.com M-Flash unfortunately cannot be used.

Ahh i see.
So im assuming my potential to increase BHP/TRQ is now very limited.

In my mind i see downpipes providing a slight improvement in performance is it worth it?
Wish there was a JBD which could be used on both Pre-LCI/LCI 330d's lol

You can remap the ECU as normal by going to the ECU itself like you normally would - you just can't do it the lazy way by flashing the ECU through the OBD like you could on the pre-LCI. I think BMW put the OBD-ECU protection in because of security reasons so the car cannot be badly tampered with as easily.

Thanks for explaining,
Im sure it'll be difficult to find someone who would remap my ECU here in AUS. I majority of old threads dedicated to 330d's and remap/chip/flashing all seem to be in the UK.

Odd how no other 330d owners are participating, perhaps i've put this in the wrong place? The number of UK 330d's probably outnumbers the other nations put together by quite a margin haha.
Quite rare to see another 330d on the roads here in Australia, most are sedans too.

The ECU has been cracked on the 335d, post LCI..can't imagine the 330d is too much different. I know of at least 2 companies providing ECU tunes for the 35d.

Yes the ECU is still remappable (is that a word?) you just can't remap it through the OBD like you could on the pre-LCI

I know of at least 1 company that provides a remap to stock via the OBDII. I've seen it in action, so not sure what you're referring to here.

Did you see this happen on the pre-LCI or LCI?
