Retrofitting Steering Wheel E90 to F30 style

I am almost ready to purchase "11 335i with sports pack, so first mod i will be doing is a steering wheel.
I want to put F30 335i M sport steering wheel on E90 335i

Attached are what i have vs what i would like to have.
What do you think?
Since i will be doing a lot of work myself, i wanted to get few tips from experienced ones.
obviously, i would disconnect the battery, and measure 7 times before cutting something once.
Anyone with mechanical/ electrical skills have any tips or literature for me?

Cruise controls are not going to work on F30 steering wheel unless i spend tons of time running wires to it using diagrams.
By the way any diagrams?

Getting the electricals to work properly looks like it'll be quite the challenge.

Question

I still prefer the style of the E90's m-sport steering wheel. Then again, I'm one of those guys that don't like anything about the F30! Sounds like a lot of work to retrofit it though. You just don't mess with the electrical system. Ever.

Interesting, not a fan of the F30 steering wheel, but this retrofit might be nice.

BMW's electrical system is known to be highly complex and unless you're a highly experienced electrical engineer, I suggest you keep your hands away from it. See the older posts on guys who wanted to retrofit the OEM alarm system to recent models and see how it's just a bad idea. If OP wants to dabble into retrofitting it and make everything work, he runs the risk of voiding his new warranty if he f**ks up. Not worth it for just a meh looking steering wheel but who knows, it might not be as difficult as I think it is.

I'd personally go with the e90 M-Sport wheel; not a huge fan of the F30 one (aside from the blue stitching)

Yeah E90 M-sport wheel looks better IMO than that wheel.

And much easier to install.

E90 sport wheel for sure. I love mine. I also like the way the standard cruise control works with this wheel. The controls on the new ones felt too much like a chevy/GM kind of setup.

Trying to make those electronics work will be a nightmare and will potentially cause you all kinds of grief. Will almost certainly void the warranty on some of your electrical subsystems.

I'd stick with something made for an e9x.

So someone makes a control box to make all the electronic features of the f30/f80 steering wheel work just like stock. Has anyone done this conversion yet? I like the new f80 m3 steering wheel.

Don't get me wrong the E90 M3 steering wheel is really nice also, but i want something different and newer looking.

I would go for the bmw performance alcantara steering wheel, its squared off at the bottom and looks better imo, plus wiring will be very easy as its designed for the e90
