Unhappy Um... I got my spark plug socket stuck (N53B30)

Sooo... odd problem. I went to change the spark plugs & ignition coils on my N53 325i. All fine, got to the first plug, put the magnetic socket in to what felt like the right place, started to turn.

After a few turns I had a look down and...

The socket wasn't aligned properly on the plug. And now it's wedged in at an angle.

Thought ok, lets just try going back in with the plug and taking the socket off. It's just spinning, no movement up/down. I can move it up or down maybe a few mm if I push or pull but other than that the tool literally just spins.

Advice? Anyone ever had the same?

Bit embarrassing.

You need one of these:

so you can change the plugs like this:

Am I literally just using the wrong size socket? Mine is 5/8"... :

I'm sure I checked the size beforehand...

Any advice on getting this one out without damaging anything?

Got it out. I think I started the change as it was still a bit warm and as the engine cooled it contracted around the socket and wedged it in... or something.

Anyway. I'll get the right size. Silly me.
