VRSF inlets vs MMP inlets
I know this topic has been beaten to death, I did a lot of researching and no one ever gives a clear answer.
I am choosing between VRSF stock location inlets vs MMP stock location inlets. I know MMP did a write up vs VTT inlets on another n54 post but people are saying that it's biased, blah blah. Pricing is similar now with MMP being a little cheaper than VRSF. VRSF 249.99-269.99(Stainless steel) - Claiming UP TO 60whp MMP 219.99 - Claiming UP TO 51WHP Obviously not expecting those gains on a FBO stock turbo car but that's what they generally seem to claim UP TO. What i want to know is the following.
I will only get the stock location. So any insight helps as i am trying to purchase by the end of this week.

You list stainless steel - isn't that only for the relocated inlets? I thought all of the stock location inlets were silicone - except for BQ obviously.
I'd HATE to try and run a stainless inlet behind the engine. Getting the stock one out was a PITA in its own right. |

They are not available yet, we are doing some stringent testing, and looking for flaws that may need some improvements. There will be two more other cars a 335is and a 135i that this is going on also for fitment etc

I can't begin to tell you how many stories with problems start with "my shop installed"... Soon as we tell the customer to DIY and fix the issue, the problem is gone. That being said, the rear turbo inlet does require extra attention to get it right. I usually suggest cleaning the area thoroughly to get rid of the oils not only on the silicon but on the turbo area itself as it can be oily and prone to slip off. 99% of people don't do this step. |

Ran into this same issue after I installed MMP inlets. I suggest you brake clean the rear inlet to make sure everything is oil free. Even using a lift, it was a 2 person job, and about 3 hours to correctly position the worm clamp on the rear inlet to make sure that it did not slip off of the turbo again. Not a fun job to have to do twice.

Look like my pan gasket is starting to leak too. The car runs as well as it did 70k miles ago, however; but it's much faster!

That is a very nice alternative to oem, last I read it has a height restriction, and only able to work with a m3 hood. As far as inlets, there all made from silicone and will rub/chaff during there life. That's why the oem ones are bolted to the engine. I can say that we can agree that all turbo cars love cool air,the shortest run possible, with the largest diameter pipe.
