Compatible or not, dealers are not allowed by BMW to do it.

Length and width are similar to original key. But Razer key is actually thinner and thus better fits in your pocket. I'll get you a side by side picture when I am back home using the 2nd/spare original key.
Details on how to get one?

The X5M keyfob looks even bigger though... if it were smaller that would be one thing.
It's actually slimmer, see comparison pictures below. I've also updated in the OP.

Does that mean you would be prepared to source the original OEM key too for anyone interested?
In order to get a key in the UK you need VIN details for X5M or X6 and also have to have the vehicle present at dealer when picking it up.
I've seen loads of third party china copies on eBay - some are $40 for just the case and some are nearer $100 with the electronics etc...
I would only be keen in doing this if it was an OEM BMW key as I can see a scenario where by the China copy key fails and im left stranded somewhere, unable to drive my car!
I have an M2, but we don't have the 3+1 version of the key (the +1 being the horn/alarm button) would you be able to get the version of the key with just the three buttons?
I would happily send you my spare key and wire the funds across to you for purchase of key, your friends time for soldering and return postage.
Shall I PM you?
Thanks bro

Dude that's awesome! How the key should have come from the factory.

Does the actually red panic button work now?

I was 100% on board for this, however someone a few posts up brought up a good point... there are probably a lot of counterfeit X5M key fobs out there. OP how does one ensure you get an OEM razor and not a replica?

The OEM keys are pretty easily identifiable, they have a tiny grub screw on the rear, down in the bottom right or left of the key - the knock offs dont.
But yes, we'd need some kind of gentlemen's agreement that we'd get OEM keys - especially if we are paying a couple hundred bucks!

Is this identifiable screw seen on any of the OP pics?

Good point, looking at the photos above no it doesn't. Below is an OEM key with the tiny hole - we need to clarify as BMW may have changed the key design along the way but none of the China keys on eBay I've seen have this hole.

I do have comfort access on both vehicles. The key fobs are uncomfortably large for my pocket, and I don't carry a bag (or a whatever). -scr

I'd love to be a part of this as well! As little as it is, the key does bother me as it doesn't do justice to the car.

This again is a slight variation of the key as it doesn't have the metal physical key insert - instead being black plastic. This may be because the key is also available on X1 and 2 series Active Tourer with M Sport pack - these models being further down the range may mean the key is slightly compromised with more plastic parts to save money.
Anyway, I've just PM'd the OP as I'd spotted he's been actively replying to another post in this forum (PPF/Xpel question) but strangely, hasn't responded to anything on this thread since yesterday.
I've mentioned there's a few of us here that would love to have the key but we'd like to clarify just what key we would be getting/cost and procedure - should the OP still be keen on helping us.
Let's see...

The process appears to be simple; swap the chips circled in the first post. You will need infrared or hot air soldering equipment to remove it, and possibly to solder it. Those QFN package chips usually have a center pad that needs to be soldered.
