Removing radiator fan - need to remove intercooler?
I have an after market ETS intercooler I installed awhile back on my 2011 335i and was wondering if I need to remove the intercooler to pull the radiator fan/shroud out? Also I have an auto, does the heat exchanger for the AT need to be detached as well? I’m doing the OFHG today along with the serpentine belt. TIA

You dont have to take out the intercooler to remove the radiator fan, but you would need to remove the fan to take out the intercooler (or else you'd have to remove the bumper). If you still have the factory lower charge pipe (the S shaped one), you'll need to remove the rubber mount from the fan shroud. Fan lifts out from the top after you:
Unplug the fan Move the coolant overflow return line out of the way Undo the mounting screw Unclip it from both sides of the radiator Its a bit of a tight fit to work it out. Cant speak to the heat exchanger for the transmission as mine doesnt have that. |

for those who are looking for help, i had to remove the belly pan, and then get underneath and detach the transmission cooler unit (1 T25 i believe) from the shroud and then back at the top to remove electrical plug, 1 torx screw on passenger, and wiggling the fan out.
