full size spare options

Got my second flat tire within a week due to another pot hole. LA roads are horrible with all the recent rainstorms! I carry a plug kit and compressor but that's useless on on sidewall holes that are big enough to fit a finger in. Time for a full size spare.

I had an extra set of 16" style 156 wheels for my 325 and was hoping to carry one of those as a spare but they couldn't clear the front brakes. The local pick-a-part has a ton of E90 wheels and I'd like to get one. Obviously a style 162 to match my wheels (330i) makes sense but what else fits? Any of the E90 17" wheel styles?

Another option - replace my curb rashed rear 162 8.5" wheel with a new one and just use that for the spare. Will the 8.5" rim fit up front with the 255-35/18?

I ended up buying a new 8.5" rear wheel and I'm going to carry the old curb rashed one as a spare. 255 isn't exactly a compact spare but it beats being stranded.
