Hey guys, is there a trick to get the feeder coolant line out of the engine without removing the whole assembly? Trying to take out my head with the engine in the car. I have to get that coolant line out of the engine to get to the last two bolts on the exhaust. I know it has an o ring on it and was gonna try some PB blaster tomorrow to maybe help it come out. I would’ve tried it already, but I’m gonna take a PB blaster shower in the process.

I can’t figure out good way to get it out of there. I can’t get both my hands up there. Put pliers on it but I don’t wanna ruin the aluminum pipe so I had to stop using the pliers. It moves outward, but only a few mms. And seeing how it’s aluminum, I don’t wanna stick a screwdriver under it cause worried about it being ruined. I sure as hell don’t wanna ruin it with the replacement being $100. Plus from the top I can pull at it, but it’s not enough force to get it out of there. And to top it off with the shape of it there’s not a good point to push it out of there with a pry bar.
Am I missing something?.

For reference it’s a 335i with an N 55. The cat is already removed.
It has the three bolt feeder line going into the engine. has two rubber hoses connected to it, and seems like there should be enough play for it to pop out without having to remove them.

All right, I finally got it off In unconventional fashion. Had a helper pull up on the tube from the top, creating a small gap in the bottom where the tube meets the engine. That gave me enough room to get a small wood shim in. With the wood shim in there was a little gap that I could spray PB blaster. The PB blaster might’ve helped a little.

So after letting it get in there for a few minutes I left the shim to keep a little bit of tension to the bottom portion of the tube and was able to pry it out of from the side with a screwdriver without damaging the tube.

Btw. Pre shim and PB blaster I tried prying just from the side with a screwdriver but all that was doing was eating up the aluminum on the side of the pipes mounting bracket. I thought I was going to ruin it. Post shim and blaster came out no problem from the side..

Unfortunately no. I was so pissed after spending an hour on it the first day without getting it off and wasn’t sure the shim was going to work either. But it did.
