Activating oil temp gauge in tool32...
Anyone tried this? I hear it's working on E9X Kombi's well with engines from attached picture.

I've being playing around with this for a while. Seems to work well on all M57 cars I can see. Anyone else given it a go?
My next idea is to set the rev gauge on the M3 cluster to a diesel calibration so that the M3 cluster can be properly retrofitted into diesel vehicle. Anyone got the memory address for the rev gauge? |

I haven't gotten a chance to read through the docs as yet. Is there any chance this may work for petrol engines as well. N52 etc?

N52 reads oil temperature with a 335 cluster (and M3 cluster for that matter), so a mod like this should work. Or you could just retrofit a 335 cluster.

I will try this maybe this weekend. My car is a 320d, M47TU2 engine. I can read Coolant temp, and oil temp on INPA. But I don't know if I really have oil temp sensor, because on INPA (or other diagnostic software) when I read both temperatures (coolant and oil) the reading are always the same for boot.

I've tried to understand it, might give it a shot in my E90 2005 but this is way to complicated...

I'm wondering if anyway to read coolant temp now...the byte which controls mpg (KVA) or oil temp... maybe there is additional option for coolant temp. |

Maybe it's time for M57 swap. Already had thought about it Anyway, its strange, because there's a job on DDE prg where I can read oil quality, oil temperature and and oil level, and I can't read on kombi neither oil temperature or oil level. That information goes for kombi from DDE via CAN right? Could be that DDE Will not send that information? |

Engine oil Temperature (EOT) can be read in 2 ways with CAN $PID 5C.
1. Direct sensor 2. Inferred from other sensors e.g. Coolant I'm guess for M47 it's the second. KOMBI requires actual data from the sensor I think. |

Yes, i think m47 gives oil temperature that way, because coolant temp and oil temp is the same. Anyway to install an oil tem sensor and "inject" that information on can so it can readable? Or transform that information from coolant sensor on that PID that you said? |

Thanks for sharing this great guide Sensible_. It worked nicely on a E90 325i with N53B30 engine. I created a translation (see attached) which you might like to copy to the first post for convenience.
