Shooting flames

Anyone figure out a technique the makes n54 335i throw flames consistently? I've done it a couple of times but can make it happen on command.

How do you even get flames? What is your set up.

No Cats + Heat + Fuel. It's unburnt fuel going through the hot exhaust and then being exposed to air at the tip.

Do you think it's the ethanol that helps? I guess I can experiment setting it to medium burple.

You still have the catback exhaust portion?

My old Sonata turbo would have massive flames out of the back on 93. But I also had a metric ton of meth I was feeding it. So it was most likely more that than anything else.

Ok. So I had to practice a little bit with it. My setup is kittyless with PE mod exhaust and an x pipe in place of the resonator. With MHD burble settings on aggressive and duration 0.3. When I downshift to an RPM over 4000 I get a loud bang from the tailpipes. If I fan the throttle a little around 4000(all of the popcorn sounds happening) and give it another downshift then its flame on. It only works about 30% of the time but that better that 0. Guys let me know if you find a more effective way.

Wish I had one myself. With the HKS Hi-Power muffler and full catless turbo back it was massive fireballs belching out of the back.

My last race with it before someone pulled out in front of me and totaled it;

plenty of other vids on my channel if you are curious, no night time exhaust vids though, unfortunately

When you say burble set to 'aggressive', do you mean 'hard'? Because I dont have a setting above that.

Maybe I do flames and I just don't know. When you say flames do you mean deep inside the pipe or a flame comes out?

Are you auto or manual?

To get flames you need
Catless dp
E85
2 step rev limiter on jb4 to dump fuel into exhaust
Straight pipes help...

Check out my you tube channel for n54 vids!

I like how the videos right next to '2step flame blowout' are 'engine removal and rebuild'

Lol yes....my engine actually has 300k kms on it so its time....but also yeah 2 stepping will destroy your turbos guaranteed...i will be doing a video about that soon.

Professional race cars that constantly use anti lag explosions in there exhaust to keep their turbos spooled do have to rebuild or change their turbos after each race.....just think of the amount of pressure those explosions cause on your turbo shafts...especially if youre doing them at 4k plus rpm.
