Ya OEM turbo's from dealer with updated rod, at 20 % off using BMW trunorth.
Around 800 each plus 900 install, so like $ 2500 plus tax all said and done.
Been silent ever since and i, m still running 19 psi daily,

Hi,
I bought a 2009 335i convertible with about 65k on it 3 months ago and the rattling is driving me nuts and I am panicking. Does the tightening fix work or did you change the turbos?

Did you change the turbos at the same store that you previously gave the number to?

Have you had any issues after changing the turbos?
Thanks.

I changed my turbos under CPO warranty 9 mos. ago and the rattling came back at startup and cold idle within 6 mos. I've heard other owners complain about the WG rattle coming back even after replacing the turbos too.

Hey Marcvtec, what is bmw trunorth? How are your turbos holding up?
Also did you but your turbos directly from bmw?

Turbo's doing well at 19.5 PSI, no rattles.
We get a discount using our sponsors directly from BMW.

all you gotta do is loosen the 10mm bolt on the wastgate actuator and tight the actuator rod with 4mm wrench and rotate 2 and half revolutions then tight back the 10mm bolt . this fix works wonders and now my 335i has better throttle response and no beer can rattles lol

The underlying issue is the flapper bushings coming loose, when you tighten the actuating rods it's just a temporary fix just like all the software patches. The only real way to fix it, like mentioned above is to replace the turbos with updated rods or remove your old turbos and purchase a kit online similar to this one.

It's still super slimy of BMW to not include Canada and rest of world in extended turbo warranty.

Bigups to Amer666!!

He took the time out of his busy day to take a stab at my failing turbos. The rattle is less, and no more limp mode in 4th gear (high RPM) I know it's temporary, but mad props to dealing with a GREAT dude! Wouldn't even take a case of beer from me lol!!

All around good guy!!

Just did this fix. Works great now thank you. No more rattles! (for now anyway) can hear the engine.
Did it from below as it's a RHD has steering through above.
Took about 1 hour inc making a little tool to turn the rod. I can post a pic if anyone's interested.

Wouldn't mind seeing some more pics.

Also, anyone know where I can pick up a 4mm wrench? They aren't easy to find...
