changed out the rear passenger door lock this weekend. Much easier than the front driver door lock i did last year. Took about 30 minutes. Got the part off of amazon for 45 bucks....hopefully it holds up

When I did my last one, I used *more* bolts that I started with, because the previous owner or previous techs always seemed to forget things.

I'll see in a couple weeks if my new one needs the same... gotta finish the Evo + L7 install in place of the hifi it has.

I suppose it's a cheaper fix than if my engine had eaten the belt and caused all sorts of fun problems. My car is lucky that I love it...
You're *very* lucky... a guy about 20 minutes from me had his tensioner go, suck in the belt, and the engine was destroyed.

Y'all should check your tensioner if you haven't yet. Super simple. Just start it up, open the hood, and look at the tensioner. If you can see a bit of the plastic on both sides of the belt it is fine. If the belt is riding the edge it is time. If the belt is over the edge, you're on borrowed time and should stop driving it.

I wonder if anyone has looked at just replacing the bendy/stretchy aluminum bolt with steel or something stronger...

Finally confirmed the fuel leak/smell I’ve had.
Ordered 4” exhaust tips.
Also BMW door lights and replaced driver side aluminum trim.

Almost have the interior where I want it. Last 2 things left, swap gray dash with black one, but I might just paint the lower half instead of swapping it. Then M tech headliner and that’s it. I may try to paint the front tweeters aluminum later on.

Next step, paint and install m sport side skirts and replace the rear parking sensors.
Pics.
Only thing left to do is get rid of the BMW logo lights.

That is not a tractor, it's a riding lawnmower.

if you paint it every spring it will not clog nearly as badly and last forever.

this is what you use $2 closeout cans of spraypaint on.

Looked at my car this morning as I got in my wife's Honda Pilot and drove it to the shop to do some work. (I am furloughed but the boss let me come in for personal work)

Control arm bushings
Water pump and timing belt
Fixed a leaky tire
Oil service
Spark plugs
Intake air filter
Cabin air filter
New headlights because the mounts were busted when we got it. Found out after pulling the bumper that the brackets were broken also. Gotta finish up tomorrow.

Then I will have time to get back to my car and install my intercooler and vacuum hoses.

I just swapped the switch assembly from my 2006 325i to my 2011 328xi to get back the "Open to Vent" one touch functionality. It's one thing about the LCI update, other than aesthetics (just the deck lid brake lights, really), that drove me nuts. In my 2006 I could have my sunroof open all the way, and when I was getting close to home, I could push the button up once (one touch) and it would close, and then open to the vent position without me having to do anything else. In my 2011, it wouldn't do it. It would go from Vent to Open via 1-Touch, but not Open to Vent. Now it works both ways. If anyone else was missing this feature, get yourself a Pre-LCI sunroof switch assembly/dome light and swap it in. Good to go.

I also update my Nav Maps to 2020-1 from 2010. So that's pretty nice, too.

The other day I installed a new-to-me Heated Sport Steering Wheel with paddle shifters. My old wheel was the base steering wheel and only had heat.

And I got the notification today that MotiveMods has shipped my paddle shifter buttons and harness, so that's next weekends project (the Sport Steering Wheel will have to come out for that, but it's actually really easy and took less than 10 minutes start to finish to do the swap the first time).

I need to do this on the driver's side rear door. I'm a little hesitant. I'm sure it would take me longer than 30 mins. I've watched a few videos, but haven't pulled the trigger. Any pro tips?

•Installed my CSL style trunk lip
•Noticed I have yet another oil leak (which isn't necessarily good considering the oil I use can't be sourced locally, and I'm 1qt low now..) anyone know where oil could be coming from? Replaced my OFHG last month along with an oil change. The oil is on the bottom of the oil pan, but not surrounding the drain bolt. The oil level sensor also appears to be fairly wet.

Add any other engine oil same or similar grade that you can find locally. Rule of thumb here is any engine oil is better than no or not enough oil. About the leak, you need to clean all very well and observe for leaks with engine running preferred. Is pretty much impossible for someone to diagnose this remotely for you. Especially without photo or video available.

Best info anyone could give. Been doing that, was just curious if there were any common leaks similar to what I was experiencing
