N55 not showing up in INPA

I haven't played around with INPA all that much until this past week and I've tried just about everything I can think of, searched all sorts of forums but can not seem to figure out why I don't have my engine (N55) as an option in INPA when I click on "engine".

I have the newest Daten files (v53) and INPA version 5.0.1. I'm assuming it is setut wrong somehow. It'll connect to my car just fine and I can do most of the functional tests.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

You should have MSD81 listed... If not, you def have something wrong with your set up.

I haven't seen that anywhere. It should be listed once I click on E90 -> Engine -> MSD81?

Yeah that part works. I just read that my version of INPA might not be compatible with the new daten files I have (53.3). Could that be the reason?

I'll double check everything again and make sure I have the msd81.ipo file in the right folder and see if it works.

I could use the same help, if anyone is willing to send me that file.

Thanks!

EDIT: Wait, shouldn't that be the msd81.prg file? Also, just to be clear, what path are you guys working with? I'd like to make sure that I'm looking in the right place.

Depending on your DME version you have have to add one of the following to INPA.

MEVD17KW.IPO
MEVD172.IPO
MEVD176K.IPO

This is what worked for me, I have not tried MSD81 because I thought that was for the N54.

1. Navigate to C:\INPA\SGDAT. And make sure you have the 3 mevd***.ipo files I mentioned.

2. Now navigate to C:\INPA\CFGDAT

3. Open up E90.eng in notepad

4. You now want it to look like the following

< E90.ENG >

[ROOT_MOTOR]
DESCRIPTION=Engine
ENTRY= D50M47,DDE 5.0 for M47 TU,
ENTRY= DDE6M47,DDE 6.0 for M47 TU2,
ENTRY=,,
ENTRY= D50M57,DDE 5.0 for M57 TU,
ENTRY= DDE6M57,DDE 6 for M57TOP / M57TU2,
ENTRY=,,
ENTRY=ME9NG4TU,ME9.2 / MEV9 for N45 / N46,
ENTRY= MS450,MS 45.0 for M54,
ENTRY= MSV70,MSV 70.0 for N52 (NG6),
ENTRY= MSV80,MSV 80.0 for N52KP (NG6),
ENTRY= MSD80,MSD 80.0 for N43 N53 & N54 with EWS4/CAS,
ENTRY= Mevd176k, Mevd 176k for N55
ENTRY=,,
ENTRY= MSS60,MSS60 for S65 (M3),
ENTRY=,,
ENTRY=EKPM60_2,Fuel Pump EKP,

8. Add what's in large font above, using the correct mevd*** that applies to you
Make sure to use INPALOAD.

torr,

If you only knew how much of a smile and a tear you put on my face man. I was up until 4AM and back up again at 9AM trying to get INPA to work with my N55. Then I googled the mevd176k and found your post. Works now and was able to clear a bunch of misfire codes however I can't change the language from German to English. Any help? Thx a million.
