Wow. Why the sense of entitlement? Be thankful you can afford all the cars you have.

Did you make an appointment for your service? I've not ever been denied a loaner when I make an appointment, but it may be they need the advance notice to make sure they have a loaner available. It may also be that they provide loaners for scheduled service, but not for other kinds of service...I don't know.

On the two occasions I just stopped in thinking maybe I'd have them do fix a minor thing, they've not had loaners available.

That is quite disgraceful. At my dealership, the last time I went in for service I made the peasant SAs polish my shoes before stepping into their dingy, disgusting showroom. One of them then had the audacity to give me a surly attitude after I told them the filet mignon in the lounge was 3° too cold and to remake it. Needless to say, the guillotine needs to be cleaned now.

Did you make an appointment? My dealer has something like 150 loaners and it is pretty easy to get one.

Hey Guys, What should I have for dinner tonight?

BTW OP; whether or not your car has a premium package or iDrive doesn't make you any more important.

Did you request a loaner when you made the appt.?

Loaners are not allocated on the basis of what or how many cars you bought. Most dealers have a limited number for obvious economic reasons, and they are scheduled. Do think it fair for you to take a loaner that was previously promised to another customer, just because you drive a loaded X5 and they have an old 2002?

If you were promised a loaner when you made your original appointment and then did not get one then the dealer owes you an explanation. Sometimes (things may be different in Quebec) SAs schedule a loaner not realizing that the client is under 21 and not covered by insurance.

x2. This is the reason I scheduled my appointment this Thursday almost 2 weeks ago, so I could get a loaner to drive to work that day.

Oh, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but them washing your car is most definitely not a "good thing".

I wasn't going to say that, but, since you opened that door...true, true, true...unless one is indifferent about swirls and minor scratches (Obviously this is less of an issue somewhat if one has a very light color paint.)...I let the dealer do it one time and that was the last time...I'd now sooner let my car go unwashed than let them do it.

Down here in NY you have to schedule 3 weeks in advance to get a loaner and during holiday season 1 month! Seems like same loaner policy is spread across the whole continent here. Other luxury brands never have problems with loaners only bmw is very stingy.

Ok I admit that I did not ask for a loaner when I made the appointment, however I thought it was a small job and did not realise it would take them over 2 hours. So if I wasnt supposed to get one then fine but theres no excuse not to have their driver bring me home when its only 10 minutes away. Also for the comment about it doesnt matter what car it is well imo it does if they see that I'm a good client and have been for a long time shouldnt they have atleast taken 10 minutes out of their day to drop me off at home? I think so! Btw they did a good job washing the car so no complaints on that

Indeed - the sheer audacity of these peons of late has been particularly troubling. I feel, Masamune-san, that we may have a class revolution brewing here - what say you we implicate our trustworthy manservants to inflict a certain amount of ... education, should I say, on these unwashed masses? And on that note, where is my whiskey? I could swear I asked Chap to fetch it not less than ten minutes ago. I say, this is getting out of hand. He is positively frolicking with the maids again, I tell you.

This, to be honest, I never understood. A friend owns an M3 but is under 21. So he always gets Mazdas as loaners - never a BMW or a Mini. Why don't they just fit it under his insurance?

+1. I used to be excited to get the car washed since it saved me the trouble, but then I had the car detailed and the guy showed me all the swirls... So now when I go, I tell my SA to not wash it. He always looks at me funny, but he knows my reasoning. PS: never buying a black metallic car again, too much hassle :P

Btw, to the OP: last time I went to Canbec, they DID have a loaner for me. A Nissan Versa with an empty gas tank and on summer tires in the day 20cm of snow was scheduled to fall (and did). So there. I should, by your logic, write to the president of BMW

I got many loaners from BMW Laval and I have understood that the best thing is to have an appointment at 7:30 in the morning. They have a few BMW and Mini but they all go out after a few hrs.

I always got a car, but some time it was a Ford or Chrysler. My SA is very good but I had a few issues with their service guy..ie: they ordered the wrong parts and I had to come back a few time.
