JB4 S2 E vs F series

Anyone know the difference between the JB4 for the E90 compared to the F30? Both are N55 engines but I’m getting mixed info. Some are saying a used E one can be used on an F car by just loading the F firmware and extend the can wires on it. Others are saying it won’t work at all. Anyone know for sure?? If someone has a pic of the circuit board on the F series, that would help too. Thanks!
