E90:misfiring after replacing spark plug and coil pack (misfiring cylinder)

hi guys,
so my 2007 328i started shaking/choking (misfiring i guess) when i come to a stop or just parked in general. I've done a diagnostic check and it said cylinder 6 misfiring.
so i've replaced the coil pack and the spark plug but yet my car is still acting like its misfiring.
if anyone knows what else could the issue be please let me know.

thanks in advance.

You may need a carbon blast. My 335 was doing that, it cost 2k. Luckily, I was still under my maintenance plan. It could also be dirty injectors, fuel filter, fuel regulator, or even a bad injector. I recommend using Techron adjective when you fill up next time for a couple of tanks to see if you burn some of the carbons out. It may help. If the fuel injector is bad, the I recommend replacing all 6 injectors, fuel filter and regulator. My RS4 had this problem with the injectors. I had to replace everything and get a carbon blast.

Cyl 6 could be caused by a lot of things. 99% of the time it's not the plug or coil pack. When that happens it shuts down the back fuel rail bank and runs on three cylinders. When you shut down the car and restart it, it should run fine. Correct? What were you doing when it coded? Was the car up to temp? Could also be a cam sensor going bad. On the ST MT cars with DMFW, at 6500 rpm the vibration from the DMFW was causing a Cyl 6 misfire. But it's not really a misfire. So like I said, it could be a number of things.

328 dont need valve cleaning i dont think. its most likely a fuel injector?

Carbon build up on the intake valves wouldn't make the car barely run

I followed the instructions for changing the sparkplugs but since I didn't know when the last time they were changed was, I simply pulled two of them out, looked at them and then put them back in.

Now my car has a funny feeling when crawling along (sort of like a gear change, perhaps the sudden loss of power) and then when I was driving up a hill the service engine soon light came on and the car shook (not violently, but noticeably more than typical) and it seemed like I was running in half power.

The only other piece of useful info in this story is that when I pulled the coil out of one of the cylinder banks the very tip of the rubber part came off (about 1/2") which mean that the rubber part only covered the metallic inner part of the coil, not the extra 1/2" that mates with the plug. Think this is a problem? Should I have glued the rubber back onto the coil?

PLEASE HELP! I'm driving down to LA tomorrow (350 miles) and really don't want to kill my car en route.

Your coil could very well be shorting against your head instead of applying power to the plug. Glue the boot back together and see if that fixes it
