Supposedly getting mine back today after being there 8 days. Sat from Monday to Friday before they even got to look at it. No idea why I had to make an appointment if it sits for 4 days.

They were 'out' of courtesy cars, despite 3 being on the lot, so I have been driving a Jetta SE piece of shit from enterprise during all of this.

They will be updating my DME as I complained about rough idle, that is about all they are going the extra mile for me to do. Refuse to do either of my brakes(rears are at 2900 miles left, front 7000, I understand not doing the front but come on with the rears). My original warranty ends 12/31 and it would have been nice for them to have done at least the front after keeping it for over a week.

No clue yet if the bolts were intact or not, will update once I find out.

Oh, they found a rodent had eaten the ignition harness wires, so there is a $500 bill with all of this.

I would claim it happened on their lot since it sat for 4 days.

I got nothing.

Of course they found no issue with the warranty work I asked to have done(trunk light not always turning on, washer fluid goes to needing to be filled after 1 use after topping off).

Somehow my brakes, one reporting 7000 miles left, the other 2900 miles left, are now reporting 26000 and 14000 miles left???????????

Sounds like you went over to the dealership in Solon. I don't think I'll be going back there.

Yup. Not sure what has happened to them, they have gone down hill greatly.

Had to take the car back to Wagner BMW 2 days after the recall for a heavy smell of fuel in my garage - here is the diagnosis from BMW:

"Removed cowl and acoustic cover found high pressure fuel line on cylinder 3 leaking, removed line and attempted to reinstall line. Line still leaking replaced high pressure fuel line to cylinder 3. Fuel contaminated ignition coils on cylinder 3 & 4 replaced coils and assembled vehicle."

Unfortunately when i had to bring the car back I got no loaner car (luckily didn't need one) and BMW really did nothing but say sorry for the screw up. A one day recall turned into a 3 day fix due to BMW mechanics error.

Took mine in a couples week ago for the vanos recall .. Bolts were replaced they caused no damage. My charge pipe cracked and happen to be disconnected at this time coincidently .. Got that fixed as well.

I received a BMW Motorsport messenger bag for the recall .. Pretty cool to say the least !

Anyone notice a coolant smell or low coolant after having the Vanos recall performed?

Yep. I just posted this exact question under the "fluids" forum! Had the Vanos recall repair done a few months ago and now just yesterday had the "low coolant" warning light go on. I'm hoping they had to disconnect a coolant line in order to complete the Vanos recall and just didn't properly fill or burp the system. Any insights into whether or not this repair would involve disconnecting a coolant line?

I topped it up the morning after I got it back from having the Vanos recall performed. It took about 300ml to cover the "max" indication. I can smell the coolant every time I park it in the garage, I'll check it again tomorrow morning when it's stone cold, and level so I have a few constants.

It seems to be a fairly common problem that they leak from the radiator area on the driver's side. Mine has a very small leak from there. I mentioned it when I brought it in the last time and they did the vanos recall. They said they pressure tested it and there was no leak, but yet I have a blue spot on the garage floor and the coolant was low...

Oh no man that sucks...I remember when I had that crazy pinhole leak in my radiator that kept sealing up with mold... it took a keen eye when a technician finally nailed it and replaced the whole radiator under warranty.

Affected population of N55?

I just joined e90post, but I have been trying to assemble information about the affected population of E90s since BMW had been so slow about contacting owners. As of March 19, this is what I had gathered on another bimmer forum about the N55 engines...
N55: Owners of x35i produced between 3/2010 - 5/2011 have gotten recall letters; additionally one 5/2011 build failed in late July (but no recall letter received). A 335i 3/2010 production vehicle was told by BMW NA that it is not subject to recall; then in late October we hear from another 3/2010 owner and he had the recalled performed on his car!...two 3/2010 production cars, one recalled and the other not!
I notice a lot more N55 owners have gotten the recall work done, compared to the owners on the other forum I belong to. So I am hoping e90post owners can review the ranges of affected owners, and please let me know when YOUR automobile production date (list your production date!) falls outside the date range listed above, so that I can incorporate the information and update the date ranges both on e90post and on the other bimmer forum I belong to. Don't know your production date?! use this to find out... http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

Thanks in advance for providing information!

I had the VANOS recall performed on my 03/11 build 335i this past week by my dealer. I dropped it off Friday morning and picked it up at the same time the next day. The car had 27K miles and no current or past engine problems.

The invoice listed these as the parts replaced under the recall:
1x 11-12-7-587-804 PROFILE-GASKET
8x 11-36-8-602-263 ISA SCREW

In addition to the recall, it also said this on my invoice:
REPLACE IGNITION COIL
1 IGNITION COIL UPPER BOOT DAMAGED
REPLACED 1 COIL

Part was 1x 12-13-8-616-153 IGNITION COIL

I take it the latter was covered by the recall as well since the invoice said it was covered by "warranty", but my car has been out of warranty since March.

Either way I haven't noticed any difference driving around since picking up the car. I suppose I wouldn't. At least now I don't have the feeling I'm driving a ticking time bomb.

Yeah if they only did that they didn't find anything broken with yours CJ421.
I just got mine back a little bit ago, they had about 10 different things on their list of replaced parts. One of my bolts snapped off and went into the oil pan.

I got mine fixed from BMW Portland and have to say not being under warranty and having another issue after it (EPDW was broken) it was the best service I've ever had before and only cost me $183.

Very happy with it now the power is back and just waiting to get my JB4 and have more fun.

I noticed a night and day difference with mine once the EPDW was fixed, before that I used to have almost no turbo boost for a while, the bolt fix stopped my car from randomly stalling which is great to not deal with anymore.

Build date 06/2011 N55. Vanos replaced under recall in 03/2015.
No issues with bolt prior to replacing.
