what shocks to buy? Koni or bilstein?

Hi, found out I have a shock leaking and a endlink that's shot. The rest of my suspension seems fine. Seems like bilstein and Koni are the most mentiond on the forums. was looking at KONI FSD because as far as I have read it adapts to your driving. I have no interested in lowering the car 335i sport suspension height is fine for me. Would enjoy better handling above all. What shocks in your personal experience have had good reliability and improved handling? thanks for your input! also what should I replace as far as parts that are needed to install the shocks?

If you require rebound adjustability, Koni Sport (not FSD). If you don't require adjustability, Bilstein HD (B6) if not on lowering springs (Bilstein Sport B8 if on lowering springs). Bilsteins come with their own Bumpstops too. If over 60K miles, replace upper strut mounts and upper/lower front spring pads and upper/lower rear shock mounts.

How about the rear I don't see anything with the rear that looks bad . Do rear peices usually last longer?

For a sport suspension equipped car, would you still recommend the B6, or go with the B8?

+1. I believe the valving is the same for both but travel is different. B6 is most likely more appropriate for stock sport suspension. But if you plan to lower, then go B8.

Listen to the people above. And if you want better handling you might wanna get swift spec r springs they have a minimal drop if any of you're on sports suspension. Also if you have the money you might as well replace all 4 since you probably have a decent amount of mileage on them and you wouldn't want to go to the shop twice. Again it's all just what you want and feel like you can do.

Decided to get bilstein b12 kit. So yeah I'm replacing all 4. I like doing things once. It would be a shame to replace the front then 1 month later have to replace the rears.

excellent choice and don't forget about the other wear items. good thing about the bilsteins is you won't have to figure out the whole bumpstop thing as the dampers will come with their own engineered bumpstops. the nice thing also is that they are protected in the rear underneath the dust cover and in the front inside the strut.

Yeah I already ordered the install parts before i even decided what shocks to get. I'm 90% sure the wheels won't rub in the rear. If they do I'll just go 18s, with beefier tires. Tires are cheaper when 18. Win win.lol but I hope I enjoy it. And thanks for your input.
