What Would You Do In This Situation?

your on a 2 lane highway. your in the fast lane (left) and see a cop taking radar so you slow down and proceed your way. the cop is now behind you and your cruising at the speed limit (55mph) and there is another car on the slow lane (right) going 55mph.

do you a) speed up a bit and go in the left lane to let the cop pass or b) just keep doing 55mph and let the cop pass you?

im asking this because this happened today, not to me but the car next to me. he sped up a bit and changed to the other lane to let the cop through but the cop followed and turned on the sirens. we were both going speed limit at the time (55mph).

Speed up and get in the right hand lane. I see this every day on Route 80. Never I mean NEVER make a cop use his brakes when he is on a Donut run!

u do nothing if the cops sirens/lights aren't on... just continue on ur way doing the speed limit. I know this cause i sped up once to move over and i got pulled over and told what i should have done.... Now if the lights/sirens are on, pull ur ass over- lol

maybe he changed without a signal? I seen idiots do that before lol..and then get themselves get pulled over.

I usually wait til they throw the lights on, then move out of the way...or they give me a quick chirp with the siren and I give them right of way...I usually get a wave after that lol

I would speed up and move over. In some states (like this one), the left lane is only for passing and you can be ticketed for not passing, even if doing the speed limit.

idk lol but i would prob try to slow down with out using brakes and get behind cuz i would be to scared to speed up.but if u say he was pulled over with a gun this mean he prob caught speeding b4 the cop got behind him...

truth would be to probably speed up to 60 then switch into the right lane..using your signal

...or perhaps throw on some rear fogs n hit the e-brake..maybe blame the cop??? HAHAHAH or perhaps complete step 1 above then lower your tinted windows n say monitor me..i have the PROcede..then become invisible

unless its a charger of course..he might stay in sight

hmm, just signal to go into the other lane, but don't speed up, just stay at the same speed until the other guy sees you want to change lanes and either he slows down or speeds up and you go over...

haha i hate dumbasses in the left lane. its for passing only....you should not be just driving in it unless you are passing. personally i would sped just let him pass me....he probably pulled the other guy for something else....you never know

You really don't know why the cop pulled him over....maybe it was for something that happened before you saw them.

unless the cop uses his siren or lights, let him pass you by going around you. trust me, he knows how to change lanes and if he wants to get around you, he will.

if you're doing the speed limit, speeding up over it right in front of a cop is asking for it.
do nothing. stay going the speed limit and let them make the move. unless he turns his siren on, staying put and doing the speed limit is legal, speeding up is not.

I get followed like this A LOT
they want u to speed up so they have a reason to pull u over.. they stress u out till it pisses u off

I've had a cop follow me and my friends home from a parking lot cuz we were doing donuts there at 2am (fresh snow fall.. how can one resist?!?!)
cop didn't see anything except us leaving.. so he couldn't do anything... he kept following us though
we called each other and decided to split up... he stayed on my tail... he got pissed off and turned on his sirens for no reason, pulled me over and gave me a speech of how I shldnt do donuts, I denied everything... he left... :P

BEST action is to downshift and move to the left if already at speed limit.

See, the objective of a cop to tailgate you is to get you to make a mistake and pull you over. I say this bcos it happened to me yesterday, at the NJTP, but I wasn't on the left lane... I stayed and let her tailgate me as long as she needs to read my plates, but no action from my part.

Take care and always look out for the entries, overpasses and end of noise walls...

In PA, if you're in the passing lane you can get a ticket for not passing, so I've always just sped up enough to pass the car in the right hand lane and I've never been ticketed (knock on wood).
