N52 euro box MAF question

Hello! I got my hand on a euro box new from the dealer. It came with a maf and I have some questions. I did search and read many diferent opinions.

I installed the box and used the maf that came with it, the car felt awesome. Faster than ever, it even lose traction when WOT
But I got some error codes after 1 day.

errors:
1. 29e0 mixture control
2. 29e1 mixture control 2
3. 2d29 differential pressure sensor intake manifold: plausibility

Today I changed the maf with the one the old air box had and it feels slower but no codes. What's the difference between the mafs?

here are some pics.

Try to clean it with MAF sensor cleaner and then check that out. Also, I would suggest to clean throttle body as well.

I'm not sure what's the best solution for you, but maybe you need to double-check with a 3rd maf sensor and see what's going on.

In the picture posted above with two MAF's standing, the one on the left is analog earlier version of the MAF sensor, the one on the right is the digital version.
In US, 2006 E90 N52's had the analog version of the MAF, 2007 and later used digital MAFs. In Europe analog version MAF had been in use longer according to realoem.com

OP, since your ECU is programmed to communicate with a digital MAF, it can't read anything from the analog one when you placed it.

Ok that's interesting! thanks for the information. I ended up using bimmerlabs mafless tune withe the euro version of the maf. Do you think i should use the digital one? I'm reading great AFR with Protools.

Thanks so much for the information.

I believe MAFless tune still uses the air intake temperature (AIT) sensor part of it. I don't know if the AIT reading has difference between the two versions of the sensors, like that being analog in one and digital in the other.

I would still use your original version. If they are same and AIT part is same, it won't matter. If they are different, your ECU will need yours.
