Got AA Tune for the N51 SULEV

I finally got my Active Autowerke tune done at JLevi in Santa Clara and finally after the 100mile mark, I decided to push the car. WOW, my car feels great! It feels very responsive, no dead pedal feel, whether in [D] or [DS] mode. Its a must have for the 328i N51 SULEV guys out there! Well worth the money, but of course its not a 335i or a rocket ship!

its not e90 or e92 or even e93 specific. Its specific to the engine.

The tune the OP is referring to is meant for NA engines.

Now if you had a N51, you would have a 3 stage manifold (from everything that I've read here)

OAKernie, most likely you would have an N51 if you own a 328i and you are also in California and your car build date was built after 2008

Yup, 08 and up x28i/xi in CA gets a n51 with 3stage intake manifold. And what ttam just said is correct. The Active Autowerke tune is great! No lazy pedal feel, a bit more responsive. I was planning to make a trip to SoCal and get the OE/Gintani tune, but I couldn't justify driving all the way to SoCal for a day and drive back up, way to exhausting, or waiting a few days to get it shipped and sent back, or even flying down there and have it go through the airport detector lol.

had my 07 328i done a couple months ago. Love it.

no it's not a rocket ship. I think the improvement is around 2i :

328i ----> 330i

Its not close to 330i's power, maybe +1i, to 329i

10-15hp and 8-12lbs of torque. It does have better throttle response and less dead pedal feel.

And what if I added a eurobox and BMW PE? Do I have to get the ecu re-tuned? If so, is there a price?

The ECU software is suppose to adapt to what you add on later. The tune is suppose to add a bit more power and tad more responsive. It's for n51 sulev, vehicles with strict emissions laws, such as CA.

This is very tempting. I'm still trying to figure out if the N51 with tune is better than the N52 with tune. I just found out I have the N51 and have been doing a ton of research, of course I got nowhere.

It's about demand. Not many people try to get any power out of the NA engines because you can buy a N54/5 and upgrade the turbos.

If you wanted power to begin with, you should have opted for a 335.

Best bang for your buck on US spec NA engines is deleting the primary cats. Not sure if euro models have the cats in the headers or not. E46 and E36 euro spec engines did not.
