U.S. Gumball Type Race?

Hey everyone, I saw on TV years ago (might have been MTV, sorry) a race in teh U.S. that was like Gumball in Europe. Multiple days (but each day you hit a check point, hung out with the other drivers and stayed over), driving a route, see who got there first. Don't think it was totally cross country but might have. Was almost like a GIANT BMW meet with a little competition thrown in.

Does anyone know of anything like this anywhere in the states? If this is common knowledge and I'm just the one idot who forgot to show up to the party to flame me too bad . Thanks

Spike TV has done 2 or 3 seasons of Gumball 3000's one from East to West Coast, another from West to East Coast, and I think another is in the works from Seattle to Miami...the Great Gumball 5000...

The shows are all powder-puffed, with 'simulated' race footage, a lot of young half-naked chicks partying, and lots of stupid ricer and tuner guido's who have NO clue how to drive their cars (or treat them for that matter)...!

The show was a waste of time...you're better served getting together with your local group, enjoying a nice PA back-road (you've got a lot in Bucks County), and loving on your ride...

Just my humble opinion...

Are you talking about Jackass on MTV where Knoxville said next year will be from NY to LA? Gumball of 2006 was that. It started in Europe, then to Thailand, then to NY and to LA.

There is the Cannonball, a combination rally/track event - road rally to various tracks around the country, then timed laps. I think its an annual occurrence.

Gumball Rally is international and switches every year. They have done the US several years in the past.

There are lots of domestic rallies. Do searches on Google for the Bull Run and the Player's Run.

We have done Gumball twice, this year there is a rally you should check out called Bullrun happening in May. It is traveling down the east coast from Montreal to Key West Fl.

There's Car & Driver's One Lap of America every year. Mostly track event in various cities, but high speed driving on public roads too (they don't really publicize that element). Anyone can enter that.

I did One Lap of America last year. Great fun to hang for 8 straight days with a bunch of people, most of whom really do know how to drive.

6 BMW's and 3 MINI Coopers were competing ... along with everything from a tricked out 1000HP Viper, professional driver teams from Honda, Ford, and Daimler-Chrysler-Mercedes, down to the lowliest 15 year old Miata driving by just a couple of regular schmoes.

We ran from Indiana over to Nebraska down to New Orleans, up to Virginia and then to Wisconsin. Some years they do the coast to coast thing -- I will definitely run this again.

I just watched my 2 DVD's this afternoon. The tekedemics ones. Gumball 3000 and Gumball Mischief. My 11y/o cousin has recently become obsessed with my dads and my 3 series. He was asking all these questions and was like, "will you do this?" and "if you do can I please come?" haha.

I wouldn't do this in my 325i, well yeah I would. But I'd prefer to do this in a 335i or a M3. I wouldn't feel as cheap haha.
