I do not intend to use anything more than street summer tires at this time and would like to avoid rolling fenders if possible to avoid rust issues long term.

Future release plans for 18x8.5s is great news! Do you believe this would result in another group buy opportunity? Ideally with the 18x9.5s being offered at that time as well.

Looking forward to more images!
That is an excellent point about the ET28 wheel for the rear. The ET35 is quite flexible as well if you are willing to run spacers. Not sure on a Group Buy for the 18x8.5s as we would likely need to be simultaneously releasing other new fitments at the same time to justify that.

Get To Know Our 50% Replacement Program

Let’s face it: Whether you are a weekend warrior practicing at the track, or a club racer pushing the limit for a podium finish, mistakes happen, and parts can get damaged along the way. We are not really a performance company if we sell wheels in a way that penalizes the pursuit of driving at the limit. For this reason, we stepped up and created a program to significantly reduce the costs of properly maintaining a set of wheels by making replacements extremely affordable.

Our goal was to make replacing a damaged wheel with a brand-new one much more appealing than ignoring the problem or performing any questionable and compromising repairs. This program will also help keep damaged wheels from being passed on to unsuspecting enthusiasts via the secondhand market.

Discounted replacements are ideal for customers who accidentally damage their wheels with curb rash, bends or dings from potholes, berms, road debris, and off-track excursions. Complete destruction of a wheel from serious accidents also qualify, including tire wall or barrier impacts, contact with other racers, or any accidents resulting in a total loss.

All pledged members that participate in this Group Buy would be eligible for this replacement program. For more details, be sure to visit our website here.

What are Motorsport Blanks?

Join Yo and Eddy(APEX Founder) to learn how to spot wheels that may have been limited during the engineering phase to offer motorsport rich features and find out why we worked so hard to engineer new motorsport blanks to create our new fully forged Sprint Line wheels.

It was a long road to this launch, but now that we're here you all can look forward to benefiting from the features we can offer on the Sprint Line and future lines of forged wheels to come!

You can fit a brembo or stoptech designed for the E9x BBK fwiw. It does cost more but is designed properly for the chassis and ABS etc. which mean correct brake bias and abs functionality etc.

Installing other calipers does not guarantee better stopping or that it will work correctly or as well as a real BBK designed for the car. I only mention this because people often just want the look of a BBK but don't take into consideration the incorrect piston sizing etc. and how it will effect performance.

Or do the f80 match the non M e9X calipers exactly?

Would have to look into it more, but I believe that it requires a different bracket/adapter to fit those calipers I know stopping power is improved but not sure on the braking bias.

VS-5RS Profile Comparison

With so many new fitments available in our all new VS-5RS design, we’ve gotten a few requests to showcase the various profiles available. While all of our Sprint™ Line designs have their profile optimized on a per-application basis, we’ve categorized these wheels into 4 Profiles based on their depth for easy identification. Our investment in the Motorsport Blanks mentioned in the post above has allowed us to make Profile 4 wheels for the first time via additional material available to our engineers during the design phase of this project. These are the most concave wheels we’ve ever made and they help round out the Sprint™ Line which stretches from narrower high offset fitments for Porsche and non-M BMW chassis to wider low offset wheels for Domestic and widebody applications.

It may not be an E90, but we thought we’d share some photos and a video of this 1M on our new VS-5RS wheels. With a set of square 18x10 ET25 wheels and suspension architecture and other parts plucked straight from the E9X M3, we can’t imagine a better way to tear up the canyons.

Technical article

All APEX Sprint Line forged wheels feature unpainted knurled beads. The problem with knurling is that it varies by manufacturer in design and effectiveness. Whether it’s a day at the track or months of street driving, repeated hard braking can make a tire slip on the bead seat and go out of balance, causing vibration.

Maintaining the effectiveness of our knurling was at the forefront of our minds when developing our new line of forged wheels, which is why there’s no paint covering the bead area. Instead of adding basic knurling with paint over it just to check that feature box from a marketing perspective, our engineers optimized the functionality of our knurled beads by leaving them unpainted to ensure they have a more effective “tooth” to bite into a tire’s bead. It is a more expensive process, but it is one of many details that results in a better wheel. To learn more, be sure to read our technical write-up below.

As our initial 18" Group Buy Draws to a close, we thought we'd share some shots of a track-prepped e92 M3 on our VS-5RS wheels.

With the first shipments of our Sprint™ Line wheels making their way into customers' hands, we’ve seen customer photos rolling in across social media. We love seeing these wheels in the wild and on your cars so keep them coming in!

Ashton (@ashtoncarlisle) sent in these images of his Satin Black 18x10 ET25 VS-5RS wheels wrapped in 275/35-18 NT01s mounted on his E90 M3 track car.

18x10 ET25 was an incredibly popular choice during our initial Group Buy with good reason. These wheels look right at home on this M3 and are a great front wheel option for the F8X M3/4s as well.

Though we focus on BMWs for these forum threads, we wanted to feature an APEX employee car as well. Our Market Research Manager Joe McGuigan (@joeMracing) picked up a set of our Mustang VS-5RS wheels in 18x10 ET40 wrapped with 275/35-18 Maxxis RC-1 R2 Tires for his Lexus ISF. The VS-5RS wheels are a great fit for these cars with centering rings and Joe put them to the test around Thunderhill East and West earlier this month.

When he's not parting the VTEC seas in Turn 14, Joe drives fitment testing and development for our new products and fitments here at APEX. He’s a massive Toyota fanboy at heart and even 2 additional doors and a bit of extra heft (from the car of course!) hasn’t slowed him down that much.

If you’d like to send us photos of your Sprint™ Line wheels, feel free to email them to Experts@apexraceparts.com. If you’d like to participate in a photoshoot or test fitment, submit an application on our new volunteer form.

Lastly, we know a ton of you are eagerly waiting for 19” Sprint™Line wheels. We recently received 19” sample wheels and photoshoots are underway to support our upcoming Group Buys. Here is a sneak peek:

Keep an eye on these threads and our Social Media channels and website for more information!

The first round of Sprint Line customer-submitted photos are rolling in and we're loving it! Check out @bcaing_’s F82 M4 on a set of staggered VS-5RS wheels in Anthracite finish.

Fitment Specs:
Front: 18x10” ET25 w/ 275/35-18 and a 5mm spacer
Rear: 18x11” ET44 w/ 295/35-18 and a 15mm spacer
Tires: Continental Extreme Contact Sport

If you’d like to send us photos of your Sprint™ Line wheels, feel free to email them to Experts@apexraceparts.com.
We are still looking for more photoshoot volunteers for various BMW chassis. If you’d like to participate in a photoshoot or test fitment, submit an application on our new volunteer form.

We have another behind-the-scenes look at an APEX photoshoot for those of you curious about the process. This video documented an amazing build and photoshoot we did featuring the Magic Developed E46 Endurance race car on our Sprint Line VS-5RS wheels:

We also have 18x9.5 ET35, 18x9.5 ET28, and 18x9.5 ET22 for those looking to run a staggered fitment. We've seen a few adventurous customers run the 18x10.5 ET40 in the rear although this fitment can rub along the inner liners and subframe with aggressive tire fitments:

Ryan (@ryanselk on IG) sent in these photos of his LSX swapped Pre-LCI e90:

Wheels: Anthracite VS-5RS
Front: 18x9 ET30
Rear: 18x10.5 ET40 (aggressive fitment)

Tires: firestone firehawk indy 500
Front: 245/40-18
Rear: 275/35-18

Mods:
LSX conversion
Stock suspension

I'm loving the look of these wheels on the E9X chassis!

Our customer Grayson (@deity.46) sent in these shots of his new set of VS-5RS wheels on his F80. While staggered fitments are a common option for these cars, this 18x10 ET25 square setup looks undeniably fantastic on a set of Anthracite VS-5RS wheels.

Wheels: VS-5RS
Front & Rear: 18x10 ET25

Tires: Yokohama Advan APEX
Front & Rear: 275/40-18
