Finding it from other members is hard because they all love it haha.

And trying to get it from a third party may always be sketchy

I was pro both :P

I got a custom dyno tune from EC for power, but wanted to go back to smoothness that AA's off-the-shelf tune has. I have no idea how EC's regular canned tune is! Both are excellent as there are problems with both but also many similarities.

TL;DR both do the same damn thing

I believe mine was also custom tuned. I had dealt with jerry and my shop had him send over a few files. As of now though, I love it! I really can't wait to get retuned with a 330 manifold

Question: When doing this mod, would you need to reflash the ecu to a stock 330i program to use it correctly, or would an AA tune suffice?

AA would adjust their 328i tune and send you a revised one for the increased breathing.

So yes, you SHOULD get a reflash to fully utilize it.

Got it! Thank you! One more question, how would one go about finding a 330i reflash, or would it be replacing the entire ECU's? Sorry I've been reading up on this mod for a while now and always have been confused about the whole reflash and where to get it! Thanks for the help!

AA and EC don't offer a STOCK 330i flash, they offer improved-over-stock flashes. You don't need to replace the ECU or any other hardware. The tune writes over your current stock tune.

can you buy an x3 stage 3 intake manifold and still order all the parts listed and have this work?

GL! Ping me if you need any help with the install.

535 manifold would be the turbo'd one ?
Hence why I said getting a 530 manifold AFTER 10/2005 from an 530.

By doing that, you will get the exact same manifold as the 330, x5 etc.

The earlier models from 530 were almost the same manifold (before 10/2005). The difference was that they only had 1 return port for crankcase pressure.

I bought a manifold from a 02/2006 and it was same part number as 330 manifold.

I suggest you do the folowing:

Take the manifold part number and go to realoem.com.

Then paste the part number into the search box.

You will then see how many models use the manifold. (all later generation)

I don't think AA tune is specific to the manifold.

I believe their stage 2 tune works regardless if you have the manifold or not.

When i used car-part.com
I searched for a X3 3.0 intake manifold. It has DISA and is exact fit for 328i/128i and its a bit newer too

I will edit this post as I read more into the thread.

I would say that to build one you need the following, the rest is swap from your car.
-Plastic manifold
-2 adjusters with the required long bolts
-6 new gaskets
Take lots of photos of your current set up and when you disassemble it to know where to put the parts.

You can always use carpart for a stripped manifold and but the adjuster units new( 300 a peace :S).

The DIY is 6 hours because of the cable loom attached to the bottom of stock manifold. You must use 35-37mm torx or unclip the top lid. Its quite a pain. Another pain is the connection tubes behind the manifold as per the z4 DIY.

On 1addicts 128i section. Evolve has made a fantastic thread for their new tune that aims to bump the power to euro 130i+ level. Its pricey but if the gains hold its the best option that does not need one to send the ECU to germany

I never said it couldn't work, I said the manifold from a 535 would not work. I also said my preference was different, but never told anyone not to get a 530.

Is it okay to buy the adjuster units off of a z4? when I search the adjuster units number they are all off of z4's?

I had the evolve tune before my AA tune and was not impressed. I was testing the tune on my car and didn't see any gains.

Dunno if that has changed. But they didn't want to look further into the problem (so I returned it)

Thanks for the input.

Did you dyno their tune? Did you try the stage 1 or stage 2 tune.

I hope that they changed it, otherwise I dont see why they would be promoting it with a dyno and all.
