Put most of the interior back in today, bit of a marathon session with cleaning each piece before it went back in and refitting quite a few pieces more than once to make if fit properly

also fitted new front blinkers that I like more than the originals

will hopefully finish the interior off this week, away next weekend so still a couple of weeks until its all done

Hi Hoper
how's life and how's the restoration going? Are you planning to renovate the leather upholstery?

I was reading about this product ages ago that's supposed to be good:
https://leathermagic.com/

I haven't tried it though

cheers

Satz

It's well and truly in bits, dropped the subframe on the weekend and fitted the new engine mounts, will drop it again to replace the sump gasket, didn't want to leave it down because I need to support it to protect the brake lines and power steering lines, I had it supported on trolley jacks, but I'm in Melbourne from Wed Arvo to Sunday Arvo and the jacks would bleed down over that period of time

At least I've started putting things back together, I'll take some pics and do a bit of a write up

Flywheel locking tool worked great though

So I've been pretty quiet on this thread recently and that's been for 2 reasons

1. Been busy at work and with the Family so progress was slow for a while
2. I've done something stupid and didn't want to admit to it

While the whole shebang was apart, I've replaced lots of stuff
- Gearbox mounts
- Engine mounts
- All of the manual gear shift rubbers and plastics
- Clutch for a twin plate Xtreme (which is where it all started)
- Injector Seals
- Rocker cover gasket
- Sump gasket
- Water Pump
- Thermostat
- HPFP
- All seals for the inlet manifold
- Installed Silicone inlets
- Guibo joint
- Centre tailshaft bearing

I think that's about it but I might have missed something

So before it all went back together, while I had the front subframe out, I removed the turbo's so I could put a wastegate rattle kit on

Once they were off, of course I decided that I couldn't really put them back on as stock.....you all know how this goes

Problem was that I didn't have the funds to head for name brand upgraded turbo's, JD75 was awesome as usual, but didn't have anything available that fit within my budget

So I looked at some MAMBA cartridges and asked some opinions, good gear but probably wouldn't provide the change I was looking for

So just before Christmas, I did the stupid thing and purchased a pair of TD04 based turbo's from a place called ARD (American racing design) research seemed to indicate that they "should" be OK

They arrived 3 weeks ago, and are now on the car

P.S. I didn't have the cash to purchase Brule's single turbo kit, and the timing was also just off as he listed it just after I purchased the turbo's

The car feels really strong with the changes, I've been gentle with it for a bit over a week to run the clutch in and also let the turbo's settle in have some heat cycles and get some oil through them

Will be getting some remote tuning soon, does T1M do remote or only on the dyno?

Anyway a few pics of the journey below

A fair bit of maintenance and mods you have completed Hoper. Some I haven't done after having the car for 9 yrs. I hope it all goes well once you have a custom tune.

Yes T1M does remote tuning I'm also in Canberra. He did the tune on my low mount single turbo. Very happy with the tune surprisingly my fuel economy also went up.

Thanks Coupes, we'll see how it goes, my fingers are firmly crossed that the cheapy turbo's have some longevity....
