Hi,
I formatted my USB FAT32 (Kingston 16Gb)
Put on the copie_scr.sh file.

Powered on ignition. Waited for Sat Nav to sort itself out.
Plugged the USB into USB port in the glove box.
Waited a good 30 seconds...

Checked, nothing written to the USB.

Repeated, left for a couple of minutes.

Again, nothing on the USB.

Any ideas ?

Tried another USB as well, that didn't resolve it either

I have a 11/2011 build E70 X5 with CIC. Managed to get the 1b file so my USb now has:

1b.hex
copie_scr.sh
fsc.bat
instructions.txt

I then downloaded Jagaers fsc code generator. However when i double click to open this, nothing happens on my laptop. No mesages. I have tried both links (from his thread and this thread) but both do the same.

Could it be that i am using an old laptop?

Its ok used another laptop and got the fsc code. Now just downloading the maps

Maps downloaded. I get the following folder:

NAVD_00005C4A_255_005_076

Within the above there is a folder called pkgdb and a file called config.nfm

Please could someone confirm if i need to move the whole folder (NAVD one) to a USB and then it should update?

You move the the CONTENTs of that folder to a USB drive.

Yes those will appear on the root of the USB drive.

If the answer is yes, do they use the same maps? Or do I need to download different maps to suit F series cars equipped with CIC?

Ok so i managed to update it to 2018-1.

However i have noticed its quite slow when zooming in and out of the map view. Used to take about a second and now it takes 4 seconds to do.

Also does this version have any system changes or is it just updated maps? Was hoping to get auto night mode.

Edit: taking the car out again and its now lightning quick

You'll never get auto night mode, don't know why they didn't include this with the e90s. What I do is set a shortcut on radio button #1 and just do it manually.

I just wanted to say i got success with the explained approach.

Vehicle: 2011 BMW X3 (F25) xDrive 35i
Original Map : 112093.2.19 Road Map North America Premium 2011
Updated Map: 112164.2.11 Road Map North America Premium 2018-1

I was unable to coax my vehicle into giving up the "1b.hex" file. It refused to export the 1b.hex to my USB stick. If this happens it may just mean you need to try another USB stick. VERY IMPORTANT whatever stick you try is formatted as FAT32. Just copy the single "copie_scr.sh" onto the stick (no other files). I started the ignition (not the engine) and waited for the iDrive home screen to appear. I then inserted my 4GB usb stick (some generic multicard reader with a 4GB microSD) and waited for a few seconds for the stick to be recognized by the OS then selected the Navigation option. I waited for maybe 3 minutes then removed the stick. Finally the 1b.hex and fsc.bat were copied onto my usb stick.

I previously tried 3 other USB sticks and they did not work. The other unworking sticks were PNY 64GB and Patriot 16GB.

Next i followed the instructions to obtain my FSC code. YES, i did selected "Life Time" so i dont have to do all this ever again. The FSC code provided worked perfectly. I'm now updating the maps to: "bmw.north_america.premium.2018-1".

I'm updating using my 64GB usb stick (formatted to FAT32). I have all 4 DVDs on the USB stick. I'm just following the instructions in this video.

The first DVD has been removed from its folder and is in root so USB 1 of 4, the stick contents looks like:

DVD2 [folder]
DVD3 [folder]
DVD4 [folder]
pkgdb [folder]
config.hfm

When prompted for USB 2 of 4 i then remove the USB stick, delete the existing root folder pkgdb then move out the requested DVDx's pkgdb folder into root (ie. DVD2's pkgdb folder is moved to root) then reinsert the USB stick into the car. Repeat.

It took over an hour but it updated fine. On first reboot i noticed the Navigation version was blank. I had to do another reboot (holding down the Radio's volume button for 30 secs) and once back in everything was fine.

Hello everyone! Thank-you to OP for the steps to update maps. The process worked perfectly, however I don't think my maps updated.

I have a 2011 328i xDrive and I found that the manufacturing date is 05/2010. The car is stock, without any modifications. The maps software for North America was from 2010 and I updated it to North America Premium 2018-1. Under navigation options, it says that my maps software is North America Premium 2018-1.

The issue is when I search for points of interest that appeared in my city, I get no new results. I just get the search results I got back in 2010, making me believe that the software update wasn't successful, despite the system saying it is installed.

Do I need to update the firmware or other software of my car before the maps update appears correctly? Did I miss something and do something wrong? I appreciate the support and tips. Have a great day everyone!

There are two separate torrents available, one is bigger than the other. Use the smaller one, and it works. Took me about an hour last night, but well worth my time to have up to date maps on my '13 335is. Maps were a little sluggish at first, but seems fine now.

I have BMW 318d E90 that was made in 08/2009 so I want to update road maps.
So I downloaded 1b.zip and extracted it to empty USB that was formated FAT32. I put the USB in the car, wait 30 seconds and put it back into computer but there is no file 1b.hex. Can someone help me?
