H&R Sport Springs
Anyone have H&R Sport Springs out there for longer then a couple months? I want to know what people think of them, like is the handling and cornering significantly improved. or is there anything else i need to know about clearance.
Im 99% sure im going to be getting them next week for my space gray 335i but im not sure whether to get them from Jlevis or Modbargins or wherever. The pics are from Jlevis and Modbargins, hope you guys dont mind i uploaded your pics. Could people chime in with their opinions. much appreciated.

You should go for it.
I decided to get the H&R Sport springs as a temporary solution until I decide on my suspension setup. Over the last 6 or so years I have not been a huge fan of lowering springs, but in this case I am beginning to believe that a high quality company can actually produce a spring setup that works in harmony with the stock equipment. The ride is very similar to stock if not just like it. It is not bouncy like many people around here may say. Most people actually call a stiffer ride "bouncy". It happens to be the way people just term it. Again, I can confidently tell you to purchase these springs. If your goals are to create a track setup suspension, you might be better off holding on until you do a proper coilover setup, mainly for its adjustability and matched shock/spring rates. Could you track your car with the H&R springs with aftermarket shocks? Of course! Just remember, the car was designed to perform well in stock form, so go from there. Good luck on your decision!

wow, thanks a lot for your input malekreza. you got me all hyped now lol. Im not looking for track actually, just for street. Im curious as to why the H&R race springs are actually cheaper then the H&R sport spring. i thought the racing ones would be more costly. Do you know of any places that install around you? i noticed you are in irvine.

The H&R race springs have a stiffer spring rate than the H&R sports. A number of us have used the sport springs on our E90 (sedans) in combination with the OEM ZSP dampers without a problem. The general consensus is that if you were to go with the race springs, the stock dampers wouldn't be adequate. The bouncing is a problem with the race springs, which is effectively eliminated with better aftermarket shocks.
The ride with the H&R sports is slightly more stiff than stock ZSP, but along with that comes tighter handling. Coilovers offer adjustability of ride height and dampening, and are usually more comfortable than the springs only route, but cost more. |

artichoke2 - My personal recommendation is to stay away from the H&R Race. I feel its far to agressive for the stock shock and in terms of its lowering height, just creates to many problems. Let me know if you need help finding a local shop in the Orange County area, might be able to help.
I think KSfrogman and Malekreza11 gave you some great advice. |

After having the H&R springs on my 335xi for more than a couple of months....I will advise against it. I absolutely hate the ride quality on the XI. It's very bouncy, especially at high speeds.
I would invest more money and get some nice coilovers.

Instead of doing just the springs you could opt for the H&R Cup Kit....This gives you shocks that are matched specifically for the springs on these cars......Stock shocks might not be able to handle the springs..

The stock NON-XI sport shocks handle the springs just fine. Handles them just like stock actually.

+1 on cup kits
not very expensive and you can play with them a little more. i will admit if you go down bumpy roads you hit them a little harder than you would have with stock suspension (even harder if you have 19's or 20's) but they look so sick. cup kits or just springs, the drop looks sick on a 3 |

Just got the H&R sport springs installed today on my 335i sedan. I also had the 'M' performance suspension (which is an option on bmwusa.com now) installed about 6 months which consists of upgraded shocks and bump stops, etc... The ride with the H&R's is slightly stiffer but the car corners flatter and feels very nice. Going to do some more spirited driving tomorrow so I will get a better idea of the differences.

Great responses here. I've been contemplating the same setup, sports and stock shocks to tide me over until coilovers become a financial possibility.
