Retrofit USB radio to car with existing bluetooth

I have recently purchased an 08 none idrive e92 which has bluetooth and logic 7. Sadly the radio has the common LCD failure (dead pixels), plus I miss the USB connectivity that I had in my prior e90.

I have a later USB + bluetooth radio, my question is, can I disconnect the existing bluetooth module, rewire the microphone to the head unit and code this unit to hifi and use this unit or am I missing something?

Also, if I can do this, how do I code the unit to hifi directly as presumably the hifi code will already be set in the V.O?

Thank you, Ian
