how often do you add oil
just did my first oil change 12/13/17 using pennzoil platinum euro 0w-40 and im about 1500 miles on it, already have to add a quart. No oil leaks. I think this is a bit excessive. How often do you guys add oil?

That's excessive. Are you certain there are no leaks? ie did you visually inspect the gaskets

Yes there are no oil leaks visible around the oil pan gasket, valve cover, rear main seal, front main seal, oil filter gasket housing, no oil on the under car plastics, no oil on ignition coils booth when i replaced the sparkplugs, sparkplugs firing tip were dry no oil. Usually i'll find something by now. I was starting to think this kind of consumption normal? If not what else can i check?

Last oil change I went about 2,200 miles until i lost 1/4 quart. A full quart lost in 1,500 miles seems excessive. Did the +1 Quart alert pop up in the instrument cluster? Or are you just assuming you lost 1 quart.

I just fixed a couple major oil leaks on an n54 I picked up. After approximately 500 miles I've dropped one bar according to I-drive (No significant leaks). So I'm expecting to add 1 quart every 2500 miles.
I used Castrol 0w-40. To me this doesn't seem to bad, as all the Audis I've owned over the years have always burned oil, and usually needed topping off anywhere from 1000-3000 miles. From what I've gathered, seems like many with the e90 platform have no issues going 5-7k+ without having to add oil. To me that means these engines really shouldn't burn much oil, but they do leak it. I'm going to keep a close eye on mine, curious to hear what others say. |

Over the last 2 years, Oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket are replaced. I don't see any oil leaks so far.
However, my car burns quite a bit of oil although I don't drive hard I had to fill up 1L of oil every 2000-2500km... for several times in almost 1.5 years. The car's condition seems alright though. |

The 335's, especially the N54 motors will burn oil as they get older past 100k mark. I put in 1 pint about every 2000 miles |

I've only owned my E92 for 16 months and did the first oil change in August. So far, no top off required but the dealer said there's seepage according to their inspection and the $2200 worth of work recommended. I imagine I'll DIY the VCG and OFHG in the spring.

I’m sure their criteria was something like: Is there visible blue smoke out the tail pipe? Last edited by tlow98; 01-04-2018 at 12:28 PM.. |

I am at 4000km (2500 miles) since last oil change and it still shows full.
7.5 liters ( 2 gallons) went in when I changed my oil.

Aren't the 325 2.5L known to burn oil?
I have a 328, 3.0L with 100,000 km burns zero oil so far. http://mywikimotors.com/n52b25/ 1. The most common problem in N52B25 is high level of motor oil consumption. This is due to thin oil rings which are carbonized rather fast. At the same time valve stem seals goes out of order rather often. Such problems may occur even after 100,000 km (~60 000 miles) of mileage. The only solution to this problem is replacement of damaged components. New N52NB25 version did not have such problems. It was firstly introduced in 2007 and has black cap. |
