Some random debris on the Gardener WB ATE my rim!!

I was driving west bound on the Gardener last night in the left lane and hit some random object sitting close to the inside line. It was while going around slight left corner so I didn't even see it until it was too late. I hit it JUST enough for it to graze the side wall and hit the lip of the rim cleanly It was the rear rim too, not the front. I guess I am lucky that both rims didn't get destroyed.....

See for the damage for yourself, luckily OEM Concept had a new batch of SF-71s just come in and is shipping one as we speak.

I honestly don't know how the hell the tire still holds air, the entire bead is showing! If anyone is heading west bound on the Gardener between Jameson and Jane St DON'T HUG the inside line while in the left lane!!!

why dont you make a claim to the city and have them pay for it. my friend made a claim against the city of mississauga and they paid for new rims and tires.

the process may take a while...

Yikes, thanks for the heads up. Looks like the debris took a nice chunk out of your tire as well. Got to love TO.....

Can they actually fix that?!? The whole thing is cracked pretty good, I find it hard to believe they could bring that back to good. Worth a message though.

I am the one who ran the claim.... yes it is possible since it is the governments responsibility to ensure all roads are in safe drivable conditions. PM me, maybe we can get the rims fixed and get a better rate.

I'm sure union could "fix" that, but it will never be the same. Looks like the bend may extend into that spoke and will require some stretching. Then the lip will have to be welded and possibly machined back to original geometry and it will likely result in the rim being out of balance, without a tire mounted.

IMO, just buy a new rim.

I agree...safety first, get a new rim.

Crazy damage though bro!! Sorry to hear this went down I almost destroyed my front lip with some debris on the highway a month or so ago.

If its not the concrete falling on your car, its random objects on the highway that will break your rims on the Gardiner - truly sad considering Toronto's aspirations.

a fixed/repaired rim will never be the same again. Union will charge you easily ~$250 to fix maybe a bit more (I had a bend about that size that cost me $220). Those rims if I'm not mistaken cost only $250/each...might as well get a fresh one then to roll on a repaired one; its a safer piece of mind and your/your passengers safety. keep it as a spare if anything.

Yeah, having it repaired wold only make sense if you couldn't buy the same rim again

I am on it, new rim was ordered right away. Rim was $300 + tax/delivery. It is more expensive because it is the Hyperblack finish and the larger rear rim.

If it is worth anything, it has been nearly 6 weeks since I have ordered the rim and OEM concept still hasn't been able to ship the wheel. Their story has changed a few times, from it has shipped but we don't have a tracking number, to Alufelgen refuses to get me a proper answer. They insist it is in stock though, just stuck in Florida.....

I have contacted Alufelgen directly and all I got was a one line response saying "they would look into it".
