Idea -VM preloaded

Hey!

I used to have a working INPA on Windows 7 x64, with a very inexpensive cable from Amazon.

My only laptop now runs Windows 10 x64, I can't get it to work.

Do you think will be useful is I built a VM with the basics pre-configured in Virtual Box and share it to the forum members? Anyone have one already cause I can't find it in the search box?

Legal matters I can think is you should have your own Windows XP licence as I would be using a generic one.

Oh god yes, if you like I can host a mirror in my Google Drive. I'm struggling to get the right combination of different software to get the damn thing to work properly.

I think I'm in the right track. So far I was able to get it to read the car status (Both Black Dots). I will be adding the DATEN files today or tomorrow, and run further tests.

I could definitely use this. My windows box has recently shit the bed, so all I have is my mac. A VM I could run on it would be awesome.

I got one I believe is working. However my two E90 are EURO specs and I installed a US INPA. Some modules communicates others does not and all units are imperial.

I would like to share it thru a Private Torrent so we don´t have to deal with ads and clicks in shitty websites. Are you guys OK with that?

Welp, I tried connecting and get no dots. Maybe I have to go through some settings related to the cable.

Make sure you "connect" the KDCAN cable inside the VM.

Yea I think I did that part right but didn't set it up on device manager properly. When the pop up asked where to connect Mac VS Windows I hit Windows, saw it trying to set something up and then gave me the driver may not have installed correctly yadadada. Then no connection.

I'm gonna try again later on when I get a chance. But no problems running the VM, works flawless on my 2015 rMBP with 16GB ram.

Got it working. All came down to the com port settings.

Read 2 modules, saw some stuff in INPA. I'm gonna work on getting a full coding setup with V55 Datens, NCS Dummy, and English files in the VM. Also going to try getting NCS Expert updated to 4.0 along with better profile options.

I'll make a VM. What tools would everyone like? I'm a senior infrastructure engineer by trade and can breeze through making a vm.

Thinking so far:
INPA + Standard Tools with latest Daten (WinKFP, NCSexpert, NCSDummy)
ISTA/P
ISTA/D (Rheingold)
E-SYS
ICOM Emulator for DCAN
ETK

Feel free to chime in with tools you'd like. Thinking a Windows 7 Base if everyone is ok with that.

I'm working on it right now -- Had to restart to change some crucial disk settings. This will be very large. Possibly as big as 180gb.

I wanted to include the 2015-1 map upgrades for E and F series but that will add an additional ~50gb so I think I will leave it out for now.

May as well make it complete if you're going through the effort. Or at least make it easy to add additional models. Personally I have an E90 and E61, so I'd love those two.

So far, I've got E89 series which includes all e90's and e46. The reason for asking is because the size can just get so large. I will include all the datens v55 as well as rheingold 3.53 but NOT ista/p as the install for it alone is 181gb
