inside door-mirror switch covered w/CPO?
I have a 2007 335i and the CPO runs out July 17th 2013. Had some major work done at the dealership (new turbos, control arms and mechatronics seal all replaced). When I picked it up I noticed the drivers side mirror was not in the position I use it in. I tried to move the mirror as usual (with the rocker switch) and found that either the motor or switch was not responsive. The dealer agreed to keep it and I got a call a few days later saying it was a faulty door switch and not covered under the CPO waranty (please give us $300 to fix it). I told them not to bother as I was sure I could replace a switch it myself. A day or so after getting the car back I reviewed my CPO waranty and am pretty sure it is covered as I would consider the mirror control switch an electrical item. The waranty dude at the dealership however claims it is a mirror issue and clearly not covered as "mirrors" are in the exclusion list. As I understand (and confirmed) the mirrors are mentioned in the "Body and Interior" section and it would mean the actual mirror not the motor or switch as that is obvioulsy "electrical" in nature.
Any suggestions as to how to proceed ASAP as the CPO expires in a few weeks. Thank you! |

Talked w/BMW NA on this and they stated that dealerships have final say and that it won't be covered under the CPO . That's a load of Malarky IMHO!
I guess I have no other recourse as BMW NA kindly put it that it will be documented and such if there were to be a recall then they would contact me. I certainly can afford to fix it but it is the premise of the whole thing that gets me. Not a fan at the moment |
