Which means a little bit more power and you could see maybe a low 100mph trap speed, which is impressive.

My 328i did a 15.X at 94mph virtual stock (19's and BMW Performance exhaust) a full assortment of boltons could bring that up to high 90mph (lower than the 128i due to weight)

I'd say 245whp is a realistic and obtainable goal for most people here depending on modification selection (N54 vs 3 stage, Tuner choice, Intake choice) otherwise I anticipate cams to be a HUGE gainer on these engines - they love to breathe and love to rev.
Does anyone make cams for these? Schrick maybe?

off to look...

just a rant...
god damn as quick as I find this car is for it's weight and power from a 60+mph roll, on the other side from a standing still or very low speed roll it's incredibly slow.... (talking about a 330i auto), I mean seriously I have a hard time pulling away from small compacts, yeah once 6000rpm is reached in 2nd gear I'm gone and I understand that not much torque for a heavy car and extremely slow shifting transmission all contribute to that... but still.... it's embarrassing...

My only complaint is that the trans is way economy minded when not in sport shift mode.

Hey guys just joined the forum today. I got a 525xi 2006, and i figured id stop on here since you 3 series guys have the biggest community between all the BMWs. Especially on the N52 Engine sub-forum on here. Been looking at a lot of information on here and im learning a lot.

The number one thing id love to get from the N52 is more power/torque. More torque than anything. Im not sure if the throttle response is making me feel that the car is slow or maybe the fact its AWD and its just how its supposed to feel. My car is pretty much stock when it comes to the engine. I know i have a detuned N52 pretty much.

Iv heard of a few things but i am not sure of, would like to know if its worth doing and spending the money for the fun I guess for the following parts:

-Stage 3 Intake Mainfold
-Any new air box/filter/ setup
-Exhaust (more of the terms of diameter, twas thinking about making a custom exhaust with 3" pipe and duals.
-Any worthy tunes? (The only one i know of is an AA Tune)
-Supercharger (not sure if its worth it, the 5k price tag is as much as my E60 is worth lol)
-Turbos (im aware there isnt any turbo kits for the N52, Im also aware one of you guys turbo'd your E92. Which i need to find the thread to and start asking questions)
-Performance Ignition coils?
-Any coding or guidance to maybe somehow make my XI a RWD car? (this is an idea so please dont bash)
-Maybe a possible N52 and N54 mash up of engines?

And in conclusion, the car is almost paid off, and i just graduated college so im not to keen on getting myself into another car payment. N54 is out of the question really because i dont want to deal with all the problems. If i had a project car that ran at least id have a peace of mind knowing that i got a spare car to use. The N52 only gave me a few oil leaks and thats it, plus anything worth getting would require me to take a loan out. Thanks guys, and glad to see there are N/A people out there that enjoy and try to make this engine better!!!

That's why I almost never drive in that mode. I spend 90% in manual mode shifting with the paddles. If i'm cruising on the interstate I'll switch it back to the economy side.

yea spining the motor to 7500 rpms will bring lots more power. Cant wait for some after market company to come out with some set of cams.

Do the paddle shifters really make that big of a difference? I was considering doing a retrofit.

I actually like that, it's very smooth and when I'm in traffic or just wanting to cruise it's perfect, the sport mode I use it when I drive more aggressively, the manual for racing and having fun in the bends... to each his own of course.

Btw. as a note, for those that don't know my stock 330i auto run a 14.4XX at 97.XXmph, now imagine a manual FBO, not as bad as some make it to be...

I have them so I use them. The shifting on my car is noticeably quicker and firmer than in regular old D mode which is what I like. Sometimes I use the shift lever if the steering wheel is upside down and I need to grab the next gear.
