SG metallic black grills?

Hey guys just thinking about getting some black grills up front and was wondering if you guys think it would be better gloss, semi or matte black. Ive seen some pics of black grills and only a few really seem to look good to me.

i know a lot of you guys out there say that space gray is the best color to get black grills but i almost would have to disagree. also i would only change the grills and the bottom part, but i would keep the trim around the doors that brushed aluminum.

this is what my car looks like now

like the little donuts i made in the background? =)

thanks but from the pictures its so hard to tell whether i would like it or not...do you like it better this way or did you get it this way from the beginning?

i just like the way my car looks but there is something there that i have put in that the chrome affects its performance lol.

In my honest opinion, I would have to say chrome only belongs on the lip of the wheel.
I think anywhere else makes it look too tacky. Putting black on it makes it look more sleek.

I hated my chrome when I picked it up from the dealership.

i actually really like your car, it's really sleek and classy looking, have you thought about just getting your outter grill painted? i just got mine done and i really like it, it's not agressive like black is but i really like the subtle yet classy feel it gives

I have matte black. Looks great under most lighting but in direct sun it looks really really cheap. Get gloss black. Or, get the black chrome offered for the M3. Same grille for those of us pre lci e92 people. I'm going to get the black chrome at some point.

the thing is i dont wanna get and kind of chrome as it interferes with something...so thats why im planning on changing it in the first place.

also i dont mind the brushed look of the trims around the windows...actually when i had my e46 m3 i saw some other 3s that had the chrome or brushed aluminum and i liked it better than my black..,

but there are some grills that look great with blacked out everything like black cars and white cars.

well i have matte black on my 335 and like a satin black on my 328. I like the satin way more.. i think the matte takes away from the whole look of the front.. kinda cheap looking

satin (semi-gloss) is nice, but from the pics i've seen of the gloss i think it looks the best.

i'd def recommend satin or gloss. matte just isn't great looking

Black chrome shines no differently than gloss black. The colors are just slightly different.

well that's a tough call.. a lot of people prefer them in black.. but i actually always thought they looked kinda good in that silver color.. especially against the color of your car.

but it would also look good in black.. it comes down to whatever you think looks better

both look good imo

well if the grills are black then imma go some kind of black...i think it looks kind of goofy when some people leave it silver when they get the grills black.

true

i would also highly recommend having your window trim done in black.. either with vinyl or plastidip

makes a huge difference

i think your car looks great btw.. all the black pieces will make a huge difference

Didn't we just do this... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769931

Oh, I guess it was in a different part of the forum...

Here are the gloss black kidneys on mine, with black lower grilles and gloss black window trim

Your car looks great and your mod list is pretty sweet. I have some painted side reflectors if you want to get rid of those clear ones.

well i dont mind the side window trims because it goes with my wheels and it doesnt affect performance with anything...i actually have something in my grill where it doesnt work well with anything metallic like chrome.

plus it costs a lot more to change the sides than it does the grill...i have hvlp paint guns and all to do the painting of the bottom part and the grills costs like 60 dollars.
