But my Objective is and will be to find a LL-01 that will work in my car a 2007 335i Sedan and in the Climate I live in which is a very Mild Climate. NOT OVERLY Hot like TX, or CA.
and milder than Seattle.

So my History I have run Castrol 0W30 and Mobile 1 0W40 in the last 4 years of owning this car.
The Oil Burn or Leak is VERY Consistant. 1 Litre in approx 12-14K km. (NOT Miles)
No Rattle or VCG Leak.

But I did notice a Running Temp Difference.
with 0W30 Car Ran approx 10-15 Degrees F Lower than 0W40.
so I looked up why.

Here is a short summary:
a 0W30 will get hotter Faster and Cool Down Faster.
a 0W40 will get Hotter Slower and will Cool Down Slower - Meaning retain the heat.

My Next Oil Change will be with Castrol 0W40, which is LL-01 and I am expecting the same results as Mobile 1 0W40.

I had to change cause my Cheap source for 0W30 quit his JOB....LOL
Then I switched to Mobile 1 0W40 from Walmart in USA....22 per jug is Nice.
then both Castrol and Mobile 1 are no longer LL-01...shit...
Now it's Motul or Shell, and and a few other Brands.....BUT wow....what a cost difference......
at the prices I found, might as well have dealer do my oil changes instead of me.

so I stocked up for the next 3 oil changes.
I would give 5w30/40 a shot. its honestly fine for any sort of weather conditions and holds temperatures better then a 0w.

you will notice quieter and more smooth operation, as well as less oil burning.

Where you buying your oil?
Do you by chance have a link to the shell rosella that you are using?
Is it LL-01?

Thank in advance.

https://www.amazon.com/Shell-Rotella.../dp/B005IUY9JK

this is what I used. Can't argue the protection, durability and slow oil burning with this stuff.

Castrol does not make a 5w30 or 0w30 that is LL-01 approved anymore.

But 0w40 is LL01.
umm....0w30 IS LL-01 approved...i switched from 0w-40 cuz it was to thin and getting eatin up...cooler oil temps and VERY quiet engine with NO oil consumption so far using this 0w30.

You are lucky you found this.
According to Casttol website, they don't have a recommended oil for our cars anymore.

Go figure.
What you have is old stock, and soon running out.

That's interesting. The 0W-40 is actually higher viscosity so should not be thinner. Maybe you were seeing the viscosity breakdown that supposedly can happen with wide range viscosity oils, i.e. ones with high viscosity index improver content. What sort of change interval are you doing?

This was my first oil change since i bought the car last year..previous owner had 0w40 in there..changed it at 7500...will change this oil at 5000 and compare..i do mostly city with occasional freeway romps.

It will be interesting how the two compare to you. If the Castrol spec sheets I've found are current, the 0W-40 is at the low end of a 40 viscosity and the 0W-30 is at the high end of a 30 so there shouldn't be a huge difference.

This is the oil I use too. European spec is indeed different than regular Castrol. I bought my case at O'Reillys. I haven't had any issues out of it so far, but I will switch to 40wt oil (Motul most likely out of curiosity) before warmer weather hits.
