Deletes are less expensive and are a more natural sound is why i recommend... performance exhaust typically alters the sound entirely... but that's a preference thing overall

IMO a muffler delete with an attached helmholtz chamber to eliminate the drone that MDs are notoriously known for would be absolutely the best and most cost effective set up for our n52s...

THIS TO THE T...I believe this is actually an AA exhaust for a 135, forget that it says mazda forum...

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=432318

EDIT again, here it is from active, i would think a good exhaust shop could fab one of these up for FAR less,

He wants louder, not softer. A stock PE would be a whisper compared to a muffler delete. A PE with the secondary cats removed sounds amazing though

I'll ask my Muffler guys if they took off the second cats if it would still be legal, but i don't think that would either

Someone told me that "ANY removal of catalytic converters from the car's VIN is strictly prohibited" but i forgot where i heard that from... apparently every car has a measured baseline for emissions and if your read-out differs from that baseline too much, you can be charged with an equipment malfunction: cats (or something of the sort) which demands a pretty hefty fine

I'm not exactly a "Green" person or "Tree Hugger" but i'd rather not be the douchebag that gets a ticket for no cats...

We don't have emission tests here I don't think so I'm not too worries about that, And I heard the secondaries won't even make you fail the test if they are taken out. The first ones is what matters.

I just am not sure about the sound it'll make.

i feel ya. A lot of people need to realize it's not about it being YOUR car on YouTube (rather or not your mods are cool), a lot of people go there for 1st hand experience... exhaust notes for instance.

I'm just not willing to take off my cats to prove what it sounds like... O_o' lol

I think the best thing to do is hack off the 2nds, the res, and do a MD....if its to loud then add pieces from there like maybe HFC's and maybe a straight thru muffler, anything can be welded on and off, your muffler shop guy might hate you but who cares lol i guess i just dont see why you want a non tracked bmw THAT loud, but hey everyone has different taste so go for it.

Some of the simple combinations i never see is for example(everything else being stock): PBX + MD, Aftermarket Headers + MD, and things of the sort...

IMO, i can tell a difference in a natural sound like MD and RD (or combo) when there is a horsepower increase... which is why my preference is not to have all these resonated aftermarket exhaust... it's all 'fictional sound' to me

**side note, my job is to detect sounds via frequencies, even though it's underwater acoustics (not aerospace frequencies)... so i'm a big 'sound' person

@milly... you seriously pay nearly $1,000 for a CF strut bar? ... why?

I love the tone of the MD and yeah i agree, it sounds natural!

I also didn't pay for the strut bar, it came on the car when i purchased it.
