Leatherique is amazing. You'll have to let the rejuvenater sit over night in a warm environment and then come back and apply the pristene clean and lightly scrub with a wet leather brush. Most seats are leatherette and not true leather. Once you determine if yours are leather this is an incredible product. It will work on leatherette but not as effective. Autogeek has a nice kit, and YouTube has a great diy with an audi seat as example.

Any tips on cleaning red interior on a 2011 335? Ive noticed that when using regular armorall and leather specific armorall, it picks up the dye? from the leather and leaves a brown color when I go over the end seams. Over the larger spots it doesnt pick up the red though

If you have dakota leather then it's a coated leather so oil based leather cleaners like leatherique won't work well. Leather Masters is designed for coated leathers and will work a lot better for heavily soiled or dried out leather. For regular maintenance washes, a wipe down with a damp rag or water-based interior cleaner and a followup with 303 protectant will work great. |

So, what is the truth about cleaning Dakota leather
I have read this and other blogs. I have even read the following article.
http://blogs.youwheel.com/2015/05/03...her-explained/ So, what is Dakota leather? Is it a lower grade of semi aniline leather (similar to Nappa) that is corrected grain and sealed and imbossed? I have a leather care kit that came with my leather sofa/loveseat. The cleaner in the kit says it is safe for aniline, suede, and nubuck leather. The conditioner is safe for Semi aniline, nubuck, suede and naked leather. Are they safe for my Dakota leather in my 2006 325xi? Will any cleaner or conditioner penetrate the polymer sealer in the Dakota leather seats? The paint sealers that have a polymer PREVENT contaminates from attacking the paints clearcoat. Thanks Wallyf |

Dakota is not top quality but is pretty close. It is highly processed so is breathable and durable.
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=633422 You could try your product but consider a test patch first. The key is to not allow a leather cleaner to dwell for too long else it can strip the paint. Protect it soon after. What are you trying to achieve anyway? Clean and protect? Stain removal? |

Clean and protect
I want to clean and protect.
My black Dakota leather is in my 2006 325xi and is in good shape. It is 13 years old as my production date is Oct 2005. I will try my furniture products on a small area first. I would like to the soften the leather as it is 13 years old Is there anyone who knows what type of leather Dakota is? I think it is probably semi aniline with a protective coating. Based on comments on this blog, this coating will keep oil based products from penetrating. However, water based products can penetrate. This makes no sense to me as polymers would prevent any solution from penetrating as they do on clearcoat/paint. Thanks Wallyf |

How about a good steam cleaner to clean off all the dirt, followed by a bmw original leather conditioner.

I just used Chemical Guys leather cleaner and leather conditioner last week on my black Dakota leather (and my wife's Japanese grocery getter). My leather was looking dull and dry, and now it looks clean with a satin finish, and is dry to the touch. I would have preferred more matte finish, but it looks good (not glossy at all). Chemical Guys don't seem to get a lot of love, and on many products I see why, but for the cost and the result I'm happy with it.

https://www.chemicalguys.com/Leather...spi_109_16.htm get the brush as well. you'll use more cleaner than protectant, so order more cleaner if you expect your job is super terrible. |

I have the brown interior "LEDER DAKOTATERRA (LCB8)", I have considered buying Autoglym leather cleaner, do any of you have any experiences with that? Also if I have understood correctly I shouldn't use anything like the Autoglym leather care balm as the seats are treated in such a way that the balm would not soak into the leather. The car is 10 years old with 100 000 miles, thanks!

I used Armor all cleaning wipes for all auto surfaces. "Use on vinyl, fabric, carpet, consoles, leather and more". "Cleans and leaves a natural matte finish." I used on my black Nevada leather seats in 2014 X1. Also used on dash, door panels, steering wheel. I couldn't believe how nice it cleans and leaves a clean even matte finish, not greasy or shiny like regular Armor all. It did take 2 or 3 wipes per seat.
